Did any one tried to convert HSBC Master Card to HSBC Discover Card?

I have HSBC Master Card and Orchard Visa. I am wondering if any had tried changing their HSBC MC or VS to a HSBC Discover Card? I want to see if I can get a HSBC Discover card. Did any one try getting a Discover from HSBC like this?

Actually, I tried to do this exact thing today. They shot me down on both ends saying that since the companies (Orchard and Direct Rewards) are separate entities it can't be done.

Interesting. I understand about Orchard. I have HSBC MasterCard. They should consider changing to Discover. I'll call them tomorrow and talk to them. Let us see what they say.

I have a HSBC MC for about a year now. Back in April, I received a pre-aproval for a Discover. I said what the heck, and was denied(it came as no surprise).

BUT, a week after the decline, I did get a call from a Discover csr, saying they CAN open me up on a Discover Card, as I've been approved by HSBC financing it.

I turned down the offer flat, saying I already have a MC with them.

Looking back, maybe I should have taken them up on the offer. That was all done, before I learned of this forum. Live and learn.

HSBC Mastercard, Orchard, and HouseHold cards can NOT be converted to a DMB Discover. As an earlier poster said, they are different divisions of HSBC. I've spoken with too many CSRs trying to do this for them to all be wrong.

They told me the same thing, that they can not convert. How ever I went online applied for it at Discover and got approved HSBC Discocver. I should have the card in the next week or two. There are couple of baddies on my CR and hope they come out soon so I can qualify for the real card soon.
