Highest limits on Capital One cards

I have 2...Capital One Quicksilver and Capital One Platinum. Current each have a limit of $400 and $750 respectively. How high of a credit limit can a person receive on these 2 cards? Are they maxed out at $5K or can they actually go higher than that? Something to shoot for.

Nope.. The Venture is giving insane limits. Mine was approved for 20k.

Someone here even got $50k on his Venture. He started this whole craze.

I think the OP is asking what limits could his existing cards reach? TimeLBK, one of my Capital One cards started as a $300 Platinum, and is now at $15k, so they can all grow.

Depends how hard you wanna press it.

If you are basically paying the card off every other day then you probably have potential to get to 5K from $300. Don't expect it to ever grow to a 5 figure limit though.

Not sure what the max is, but I'm sure if I was still using my Capital One card heavily and contacted the Executive Office again I could probably have it bumped to $20k or more.

For 99.9999% of people though....That just doesn't happen!

It's nice when one breaks the subprime mold at Capital One, but it's like finding a needle in a haystack. The preferred method of operation with Capital One is to reapply with better credit.

My $3000. Capital one QS1 card went to $8000. after 6 months.

I just got approved with a $2000 Journey and $15000 Venture. In hindsight I shouldn't have applied for the Journey.

I believe the Venture can go even higher. Although I'd assume you'd have to use the Cap 1 card a lot, and probably spend a lot of time trying to get CLI after CLI.

A better method might be reapplying for credit with them later in the game once you have higher credit. They reward new customers more than old customers unfortunately...

The Journey just isn't a high limit card. If you got $2,000 on a Journey, You would have gotten 5-10K on a Quicksilver.

The Journey just isn't a high limit card. If you got $2,000 on a Journey, You would have gotten 5-10K on a Quicksilver.

I know, once I get the card I'm going to try and convert into a Quicksilver if possible. Although I think Cap 1 probably won't do it too easily... I don't really need the Journey now that I have my Venture...

My experience with Cap 1 is they are great at giving people a chance, and then they let you go elsewhere once your profile is strong enough to do so.

I have no bad feelings towards Cap 1, but when I closed my card I was happy to do so. I called a few times to try and get them to upgrade and increase my credit, only to no avail. So I dumped them, which is a benefit of having good credit you can make those kinds of decisions.

I really dislike their Hollywood movie star commercials, not that it matters it's just annoying to watch.

Mine is from 300->500->2000 over 10 months. Will probably call the EO later this year to get it up to 5k. For me, having a 5k on QS is enough.

I've had both journey and just recently had another Cap1 old card converted to Quicksilver. I've had both of these cards for around 4 years and they've only been CLI'd to $2,000 each. They're by far my lowest limit cards but as one of the previous posters has mentioned, Cap1 is great at getting you cards when you're rebuilding your credit. Now that i have decent credit, i might just close both cards, but at least in my experience, they almost never CLI themselves unless i asked them for a CLI.

While some cards are limited (namely those targeted to those starting out and rebuilding) limits with any creditor are based on one's credit and income. You can't just assume that because your credit qualified for a low limit that your card is capped.

The CO cards I had a while back were for builders and rebuilders and by the time my credit qualified for better cards I wasn't interested in anything that CO had to offer at the time so I just closed them and went with other creditors.

Some seem to have had some luck overcoming the limited cards by going through the EO.

My Platinum MC (now QS1) went from $300 to $2300 after credit steps. That was about 4-5 months ago. At 6 months, I'm going to try to PC to Quicksilver Visa after another CLI, hopefully. I put alot of spend through this card now that it has rewards. If no go on PC, I will just app for QS Visa.
