AMEX BCE rewards not updating

Anyone else facing this issue?

My rewards have not updated since January.

The CSRs are utterly incompetent on chat. I tried to reconcile thrice and failed.

The social media rep is now saying that there is a problem and they are working on it. Not sure if that's a canned message as well.

I am aware that at least one AMEX employee visits this forum but they are awfully quiet on this issue.

What happened to the legendary AMEX customer service? 5 months to fix a software glitch?

Yep, more nonsense from the social media rep.

Either that, or the absolutely worthless rewards team of AMEX is keeping them in the dark.

No time frame for them to fix the rewards issue.

At this rate, they should sell off the BCE / BCP portfolio to Synchrony or Comenity. $25k of CL that's next to no use for me.

Second statement is closing in a couple days, so I will see.

I have gotten back 10% for each cell phone bill paid, as well as the intro bonus for 1k spend, however.

In their "ordinary" scheme of things, they are known to hold back rewards for one extra cycle.

I had gotten used to that (though much less user friendly compared to almost everyone else in the card space). Big question: why that one month delay, when Barclay / Cap One allows immediate redemption, as soon as the purchase posts? (Barclay has a threshold, Cap One has none.)

But 5 (Five) extra months is getting on my nerves.

Every month, I see the same rewards online: $24.XX. Can't redeem because the stupid system says $25 to redeem. And the physical statement has stopped showing any rewards whatsoever.

And they won't let me PC to an Everyday card either. The logic - one is a cashback card and the other is a points card - is flimsy at the very best. Chase does it all the time - PC between Slate (no rewards), Freedom (cashback / UR), and Sapphire (cashback / UR). So does Citi - from Dividend (cashback) to Double Cash (cashback) to thank you cards (TYP points).

It's high time for AMEX to sack those utterly incompetent bunch of reward program designers and do something actually customer friendly. A high school grad can design a better system anyday.

This is why I moved on from the BCE/BCP. Bad reward system even on its best day, and at the BCE level, really the rewards aren't much greater than a generic 2% card and you wait a lot longer for them.

Only thing it really has going for it is the Amex Offers but meh, the actual card reward system is a joke.

What did you do with the card? The only other thing (apart from the occasional offer) that's keeping the card is the $25k CL. Don't want to app for a new card and can't PC it into something useful

rewards not posting, but Amex increasing AF on BCP!

sounds like Amex was losing money to me, which is why I canceled my account (no love lost- member since 2006)

as a long-time AMEX customer (senior gold with 25 years of history)...I left the garden to switch my useless eveyday card ($15K limit) to a BCE (only $2K limit) which they offered me with a slightly higher sign-up bonus...sounds like it is not a very good card. Should have checked out Barclay's sallae mae for the supermarket/gas %...that's what I wanted it for now...but I have a peculiar liking for AMEX because of what history and CL they gave me-and I like their troubled corporate culture...difficult cards, though...I'll get the $150 signup and the $35 phone cash back offer and move on....0 interest for 15 months and lowest % after that, so that's something...

I closed it, losing the limit was no big deal to me as I have several other decent limits.

For last month, the 10% I'm supposed to get for my internet bill (according to the CSR on chat) is about precisely the same amount as what I'm supposed to get for cash back on spending, so I'm left wondering which one is missing. Or whether my internet bill doesn't qualify for the 10% at all, and the CSR was misinformed. Good gracious. I wish they were more like Chase, which tells you right up how much cash back you are getting on each transaction.

I'm really finding I prefer companies that are straightforward with rewards, such as Barclay's, BOA, and Chase. It's just much easier when they directly tell you how much points each transaction is getting. Discover, Citi and definitely Amex could use some work in this area.

Damn I'm really regretting getting my approval after reading this thread and a few others. Already felt like I be walking on egg shells just to make sure my AU doesn't spend more then me now to hear this crap. I like how Capital One updates rewards points the same day or a day later. Everyone seems to be so damn late.

I was just planning on re-upgrading my BCE to BCP and downgrading my EDP to ED. I've had a chunk of transactions missing from the bonus calculation area which means I likely won't get the .5 bonus for last month. I've contacted them a few times, I assume it'll eventually get straightened out, but likely not in time for the normal (late) rewards to post.

This thread makes me re-think my strategy. Hmmm.

The Amex delayed rewards, apart from allowing Amex to keep their money for longer, also makes it much harder to catch errors. Still, now the Sallie Mae isn't available, people wanting the 6% on groceries may still think it is worth the hassle.

I would close the card if it wasn't for the 15k credit limit and the 6% back at grocery stores. The fact that I have to wait 2 billing cycles for rewards is annoying. I can't imagine waiting as long as you have, OP.

My BCP rewards has been updating fine, so maybe it's just an issue with the BCE? Then again, I don't put a ton of spend through this card, so I only earn around $20-$30/month in rewards so maybe that also has something to do with it. You could probably train a monkey to tally up and keep track of my rewards dollars on this card.

Lotsofpens, your theory is not true. I had the Amex BCP, and my rewards had not posted since Dec 2015, nor were they showing on my monthly statements, it was only when I called to cancel my card my rewards all of a sudden appeared, but who knows what posted is correct b/c I have not been keeping track for 6 months! So I canceled my card after being a member since 06, b/c I've grown to sense BS!! But good luck with your card!
