Thanks. I'm 50/50 on timing to call them. Right now the account reports as current with balance of $7k (down from $12k). It has been late since May, I asked them about that a few months ago they said they don't report lates. Perhaps also because parents were great customers for 4 decades. Amex closed the account so I figure it is only a matter of time before it reports as closed/delinquint. I did write a letter to Amex for them explaining they were great for 40 years, last 1/2 year is because of Dad's extended illness and mother providing home care for him, dealing with Medicaid, etc. Hoping they re-instate.

In any event if they remove, it gets rid of my 38 year old history and reverts to 22 years but does get rid of 1/2 of my reported debt and helps utilization immensely. Also awaiting my own two 'new' 22 year old Amex's to report, figuring hit of taking away 38 year old account will be offset by getting rid of 1/2 my reported debt/utilzation and getting two 22 year old accounts added.

What I'm worried about is since the Amex accounts are in fact new, if I get them to remove the AU and my scores take a 30 point hit, will that be cause for revoking/FRIng the new ones?

Oy.

I would call them and ask them if they can report the account as closed on your CR and not report the delinquent. I would tell them that you have additional cards with them and find out if they can work something out with your parents.

Just see if they can put closed on your CR's!!! Let us know what happens...

TheTaxMan
