Zales CLI question robot lady not very generous

So I was recently approved for Zales with a 3k ICL. Robot lady worked one time only and gave me an increase of $750. I was hoping for a lot more. I tried calling CSR and he stated I would need to ask for CLI once I am in the store with a specific product picked out. Any other ideas as I would like to know ahead of time what I am approved for before shopping. 19th wedding anniversary time to upgrade my wife's ring.

What do you mean upgrade her ring? Like adding on to it??

I think Comenity takes a little bit to get going on CLIs and once they start you can get them really consistently.

I bought her a 5 k ring a few years ago and they gtd to give u full purchase price on a trade in upgrade as long as u purchase a product that is double the price ie 10k.

I'd encourage you to think very carefully before incurring $10,000 of debt for a ring.

I'm going to say do NOT under any circumstances pay Zales $10,000 for anything. Mall jewelry stores have insane markup and you could get a better value going to an independent jeweler.

I've never heard of anyone changing wedding rings every few years! Interesting. What about a different piece of jewelry as a gift?

I totally agree with you on the markup issue. The only reason I was going to use Zales is because of the full credit price for the old ring and the special financing they are currently offering 0% at 18 months. I also have a Blue Nile acct with a 24k limit. I have been told they are much better to use than a retail jeweler. Not sure I understand the comment regarding paying 10 k for a ring. People spend 5-6 X that amount on a car boat motor home etc. It is a luxury good but she deserves it for putting up with me for 10 years.

Oh, it wasn't that I thought $10K for a ring is "bad", just that from Zales you're probably paying far more than you should for what you're getting. And I would definitely go Blue Nile over Zales! I was asking (geniuinely) about "upgrading" a wedding ring. I hadn't really experienced that (I can't personally see wanting a different ring than the one my husband proposed with) so I was confused about that. And was suggesting a nice gift for your anniversary vs changing her wedding ring.

No offense taken. The bottom line is that she wants a larger stone. If I was buying from scratch I would go for Blue Nile in a heartbeat!

So I believe that I am going to take all of your advice and say goodbye to Zales 4 ever. I went to the store today and compared rings. They were 3-5 k more per ring than Blue Nile and less quality. Also pushing a damm lifetime warranty that adds even more to their price. To top it all off their finaning would not budge from the $3750 CL the gave me. I will go with Blue Nile as I have a 24 k CL. I am also eligible for 9.99% APR or 0%

I'm a woman that loves diamonds and for my 5th year anniversary I want my ring upgraded with a larger stone, so I get it. I say go for it. Is Zales a SP or HP? My husband bought me a forever ring at Zales so I would like to be able to tell him since he has an account. Also, when can you ask for a CLI?

Actually I took the advice of other forum members. Zales card will go into the sock drawer probably not to see the light of day again. I will be shopping with Blue Nile who gave me a 24k CL which is more than enough to get a nice ring and may I say at a better price!
