Also If I can I would leave 1000/1500 on that one and shift the rest to my Slate.

If it is possible to move the limit over to my slate, will Chase frown on this?? I really don't want to lose my Chase cards but the 0% BT Fee and 15 months would be awesome if I can move limits over to Slate to make the limit $8800 I can essentially balance transfer over like 8650 and save a ton of money on BT fees.

Any thoughts?

People have made their Chase Visa Signature cards less than 5k before without incident. It's possible that upon expiration/renewal of the card, it could be changed into a Platinum Visa, but not sure if this has ever actually happened to anyone. But technically, if the limit no longer fits the criteria, it is possible, though not super likely. If you're okay with that remote chance, you should be fine.

My main concern is that you are basically moving all of your credit to the Slate. I know you want to do the BT, and that's fine, but it leaves your other Chase cards (with rewards/perks) almost unusable. Are you sure you need to be moving so much?

I don't know that they will frown on it per se, although multiple requests in a short time probably doesn't make you look so great.

My Hyatt is fairly new I am sure that by the time its time to renew it I would have moved the limit back so thats not a concern.

Well leaving $500 on the disney is just so that it stays open. I really dont need or use this card but its old so don't want to close it. When I am done with Slate I was hoping to move those $1500 over to Hyatt to make it $6500. And I would be leaving $1000/.$1500 on IHG, for me thats not unusable, that will more than accomodate what I need from that card in the meantime.

So perhaps what I should have done was just move over the limits wen I called in the first time.

I have read that some people move the limits via SM? I think I might go that route for the IHG card and leave the Hyatt alone so as to not cause any alerts on my account. I think I have calculated and taht will be doable

Basicall I would move 3,264 over to the Slate from Citi and the other $10,671 to the Penfed. And leave it like that. That should accomodate. I was just trying ot get more out of the no BT fee with Chase so another $3 from Hyatt would have been awesome. but I am afraid they will look negatively at that.

You can have a Visa Signature card with a $500 limit if the bank wants you to.

My old Chase was a Visa Signature and it only had an $800 limit.

I don't know how many times it's been stated on this board that the traditional requirements for the premium card labels don't exist anymore.

Well I had read that for the WEMC (as I have the DC for $500 LOL) but I had always read that the Visa Signature they won't approve unless they can give you $5k. SO I wanted to make sure.

Unfortunately, statements like "some banks don't enforce the 5k for Visa Signature" eventually get translated into "your limit doesn't matter", which is not entirely true. Some banks do still stick to "less than 5k = not Visa Signature". So while it may not be as set in stone as it used to be, it's not like it has been thrown out the window completely.

There is a possibility that your cards could no longer be considered Visa Signature after you drop the limit. Like I said, is it likely that they would bother downgrading an existing account? Probably not, but it's also not impossible, and something you should consider.

Doesn't hurt to verify though because it can be confusing when there is a lot of information to go around. I actually have to do something a bit similar and am trying to get all of the info I can.

Thanks you guys.

I think I've decided to keep my Hyatt intact at $5k. It was my first Signature card and I don't want any issues. I already moved the disney amount and if need be I will move IHG however I think I calculated and with the disney move and the Penfed approval for 12k, I can move my entire Citi balance over so I think I'm all set now.

And yes I alwasy come to ask becuase everyone here has all the answers!! seriously!
