Synchrony accounts locked!

I went to log into my Synchrony accounts today to make my payments... LOCKED!

Called customer service, they said that I have to wait for a letter in the mail, for instructions on verification. I am suspecting that they are going to ask for a 4506-T , which I'll send no problem. They probably wont like what they are going to see, as my last years income was about 1/3 of my current income... We hall see! My total exposure with them is $52500

Is there anything unusual about your spending habits that might have placed you on their radar?

Also, has there been a change to your credit profile recently?

There has to be a 'common denominator' as to why Synchrony would be taking this action... surely it's not just 'out of the blue'.

In any case, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this, and I hope it's resolved easily and quickly.

Nothing is giong on at all. Accounts PIF every month. total CL between all cards and banks is around 85K. Util might be 5% total, with no card even approaching 10%, but, everything is PIF before the statements even cut, so no bank is showing ANY util. to speak of on my reports. NO derogs of any type, or lates, period.

I should also add that I havent opened ANY new accounts in a few months. Also, my scores are currently 705-719-722

What are your usage patterns like on the Synchrony cards? Someone earlier (who was locked out) posted of heavy usage monthly even though they PIF.

Also, how many cards (total cards and also how many Synch cards), and how many accounts recently opened? You said not any in a few months, but were there a number of accounts and inquiries just prior to that? Thanks as this information may help others.

Usag is around $3K a month total between all Sync accounts

I'm with UncleB on trying to figure out a common denominator or is this just a random thing they are doing. Wow! Hope it gets sorted out OP.

That doesn't seem like an 'unusually large' amount to me, unless it's wildly out-of-synch with your income I don't think that would ordinarily be a problem.

Honestly I'm at a loss, and I'm 'crossing my fingers' that it doesn't happen to me.

I just used my Sam's Club MC earlier today, so it appears I'm OK, at least for the moment.

The only thing I can think of that might have been 'notable' is if you were consistently paying before the statement was generated.

I'm not saying I agree - it seems like it would be a no-brainer that this should be fine - I only mention it since I've read where some other banks can be sensitive to this (at a minimum, it might 'put you on the radar').

Again, I'm not saying this was the problem, it's simply the only thing that is standing out to me as 'unusual'... and by that I mean not usual for most customers (obviously for myFICO folks this wouldn't be odd at all).

In most cases I welcome additional data points, but this is one instance where I would be very pleased not to have any additional data points at all...

All these synchrony problems starting popping up after the TU inquiry disappearing nonsense. I wonder if that would cause a problem. Apping for cards when TU inquries are at zero, then all of a sudden a month later they are all returned and that freaks them out thinking the user just apped for a bunch of cards.

BlkCvc, have your spending patterns on any of the cards changed? Something must have put your accounts on the radar, it may help others for us all to figure out what the catalyst was.

have you had issues with getting payments returned to you on more than more occasion? I have read people getting locked out for a pattern of return payments.

This is a good thought. Possibly Synch saw a group of inquiries jump onto the report? BlkCvc, how many TU inq, if you are wllling to share?

20 Inq. showing. 17 new accounts in the past 8 months. None in the past 3. No returned payments, nowhere anywhere close to limits ever on any cards, much less theirs. NOTHING shady, or weird going on, on my end. I am at a complete loss. Maybe it is the TU Inq. glitch, but, I dont think mine were ever affected though

BlkCivic, I'm genuinely sorry about this, and I appreciate your being wiling to share on here with us.

Hopefully once you provide the documentation the letter requests, Synchrony will reinstate your accounts and this will all be a bad dream.
