And yet another synchrony accounts locked thread

My celebration of my PenFed recon was a little short-lived. After seeing all of these synchrony threads, I decided to check my accounts. This morning, I logged into my Walmart account to add my mom as an authorized user. All was fine. I added her and went about my day. Tonight--all online access frozen! I called Walmart first. They said I could still use my card and they'd be sending me a letter. When I told the CSR about adding my mom as an AU this morning she said that could have prompted it. Well then I called Stash. They said I'd be getting a letter as well. But that CSR said I couldn't use my account until the forms were filled out and sent back. Who knows what's going on over there. For all of you credit experts on this forum, do you think that adding an AU could have prompted this? Or maybe just coincidence? Ugh I am so irritated at the present moment and of course feeling a little ill at ease. I'll report back as soon as I get the letter

Once they lock one they lock all of them ! Mine have been frozen for about 2 weeks now... Should be unlocked by Monday from what the rep told me..

@Anonymous @Anonymous. Total exposure is around $55K. Oldest account with them over 10 years old. I wish I knew what this is about instead of just speculating!

Oh my.. you make the 5th person this has happened to today. I don't know if adding an AU prompted this. I believe one of the other people that this happened to today also recently added an AU as well. I just added an AU about a week ago, so I guess I'll keep checking my accounts too

@Anonymous so much, @Anonymous. I know no one can say with certainty with the AU issue. I just have almost zero experience with AUs on my accounts. Just from what I read on these boards I've gathered certain lenders have taken issue with it. But I wasn't sure exactly why. I guess all I can do is wait now.

Yeah, they requested it again!! They requested it about 2 months ago.. I sent it in and they told me after they receive it, it'll normally take 7-10 days to process... So no guarantee just yet !,

Hope all comes out ok .wish you the best. I have my wife as AU on my Wally, she basically uses the card more than me i pay it on time or PIF and so far no problems with Sync but you never know. I read an article here on credit in the news section i believe about Sync bank tightening up ( i really hope i read it correctly and was on here, sorry if not) so maybe they are just checking all their accounts and checking / verifying all red flags?. Hopefully tomorrow will be a brighter day

Wow talk about redundant, seriously?? Exactly what do they think will have changed in your taxes from last year that they didn't detect two months ago? That makes absolutely zero sense and I'm so sorry you're dealing with that again Fingers crossed for you. I really hope it all turns out okay.

This is all very disconcerting... especially since my own Synchrony exposure is more than the OPs.

OP, thanks for letting us know... hopefully we'll be able to figure something out eventually. We have at least one case where possibly they were alarmed about the number of recent inquiries and new accounts, and possibly two cases now where the impacted folks had recently added AUs to the accounts.

I also think it's notable that in this case the OP has at least one account with Synchrony that is 10+ years old. In my own case I've got accounts that are 10 and 12 years old, and I don't feel safe by a long shot.

Side note: Just checked my own Sam's Club MC and Lowe's (again) and so far they are still alive. <fingers crossed>

@Fingers crossed for you too @UncleB that your accounts continue to remain safe. There are a few patterns emerging here, but I know everyone's profile is also different in certain respects as well. I wish it was easier to determine who is being targeted in all of this. It feels sickeningly like tthe Comenity debacle all over again. I truly hope it doesn't escalate to that level. Thanks to all who have posted about this, thus far.

For all the crap they've given you I'd close them out of spite. Some of their cards really are useful though.

I'm really considering only keeping Ebates and Marvel.. Possibly Stash till AF hits... Sams Club, Walmart, Bannana Republic will all get the boot!!!
