I recently changed my last name back to my maiden name and I called all my creditors to update my account and get new cards issued. Most of them were able to update my name over the phone and told me that I would get my new card in the mail in a few days. Wouldn’t you know that the one creditor that gave me trouble was Credit One. They told me that I needed to send the request in writing and to send a copy of the documents that changed my name. I told them I wanted to closed both cards and then they waived the fees and a few other things so I kept the account open, but I still needed to mail the documents to change my name. Reluctantly I put the request in writing and mailed the documents. Today I received two letters from Credit One telling me that they updated my account to reflect my new name, however if I wanted new cards, I would have to pay twenty-five dollars per card. REALLY???? I think not. I called them and cancelled both cards.

I’m so happy to be done with them. They nickel and dime you for everything and the fees are the worst.

Was it your annual fee they offered to waive? I have a credit one card that's almost three years old that now has a $96 annual fee, every month I'm paying $8 for that and nothing else because I don't ever use it. I just opened a discover and chase freedom last year so I'm wondering if I should call to cancel and see if they will waive that fee or how to go about it

Cue the " Sync Saga" haha.

@smnares, if you got Discover and Chase, you are doing well and imagine you probably dont need credit one anymore, unless for your util. Maybe you should have them play in traffic on their way to jump in a lake but not before they pound sand JK , if they work for ya, no probs but if not, time to fly

The increases they do offer you are not free. They charge you for everything. I'd you don't need them. Tell them to kick rocks!

I am no fan of Credit One (read my past posts) however I'm a business realist

They are in the business of dealing with high cost, high risk clientele (can we tell the truth) bottom line is when you smell like ish, you get ish options...such is life, once you qualify to leave ish-ville you leave

But, you will NEVER make Credit One...Chase-like because they ain't Chase or Navy or PenFed.
If you're in credit jail, you get treated as such...jail ain't the Hamptons.
Once you are up for parole, find a better option, simple as that....

Again, yes they suck but in fairness they deal with mostly ish customers, and due to the more fraud and nonsense dealing with more low brow folks I'd bet the whole 'name change ' thing takes on a whole new can of worms for the ace clientele they deal with daily.

Just like when you're in da hood...they charge you for extra sauce or ketchup packs and hand your food from behind bulletproof glass....same thing just easier to change your reality😠

@Anonymous wrote:

Good points! Bottom line, stay outta "da hood!" Lol
