Amex Pay over Time

I was approved for Amex Green 5 months ago. I was unaware that the pay over time option was only offered to some. I got an email from Amex earlier congratulating me on the offer. On average I put about $900-1100 on the card monthly except this month.

UPDATE: I had issues with the enrollment. long story short alot of accounts got this eligibility email yesterday and they cant honor it as it was a technical glitch. I was constantly asked was the email fraudulent until I gave a valid offer code. Very disappointed at this.

I just got that same email yesterday for my PRG....interest rate was 15.49% or something like that. Does it look bad to amex to pay over time on a charge card? I just don't understand really lol

hey Mattayy I got the offer yesterday as well. I had issues enrolling come to find out it was a glitch so I was told that happened to alot of accounts yesterday. They wont honor it in fact they gave me the run around about the email being "phishing scam" until I gave them the offer code. upset is an understatement.

Did it come with MR points? If not, don't sign up until you get that offer.

I just called Amex and the guy over the phone said it was a glitch in their system but that it should be up and running by the end of the week so to just keep clicking on the enroll link once a day and it should work within a couple days. I also just got another email a little bit ago about the BCE and it being a customized offer for me with an RSVP code....hmmmm

Most likely a denial interesting thing is after I applied I didn't get a we got your application email like they normally send.

@mattay got denied for the BCE not shocked at all. were you able to enroll yet its still nothing on my end.

I never did like AMEX's Pay-Over-Time. They SAY you have $35k available to Pay-Over-Time, BUT, twice I have used it just before a big bonus and they can lock you out for a year after using just $500 of that $35k. I used to spend up to $4000/month PIF and after initiating Pay-Over-Time, which THEY keep offering, I get locked out and can't use it for like a year after creating an initial Pay-Over-Time balance.

My question is, why offer it as a benefit if it is perceived as a no-no? Bad user! No soup for you! One year! But, but, I paid it off in 30 days.

I called again they gave me the pay over time as opposed to the extended pay the only difference is charges over $100 on the pay over time you have to move manually to your pay over time balance heres the kicker it doesnt start until October 5th

The 'delayed start' thing seems to be normal... I got my PRG in May, and while I let them add POT at activiation it wasn't available until the middle of July.

For me it doesn't matter (I don't plan to ever use POT), however I didn't know it wasn't immediate until I 'poked around' the website a bit... that's where I saw the July date. Had I been depending on it for charges that first month or so it would have been quite inconvenient.

I agree that it's a nice 'perk', but honestly I treat it as a fail-safe... and not the first one at that. My first fail-safe would be to do a BT to my NFCU card (the APR is more favorable), and in the event the BT didn't make it on time I would have the POT to fall back on.

That's a lot of 'falling back' before it would ever be needed. For me, if 'all else' were to fail and POT was my only remaining option, Amex restricting my account would likely be the least of my worries.

Thanks for the info. The first month I had this card I learned my lesson. After the Amex honeymoon period I consider it the ball and chain so I dont use it as much. My delta skymiles wont be getting much use anymore after I got my bonus miles.

Okay so I called today and I guess there is still an issue with the system so the rep put in a case for it but as an alternative he told me I had an offer for the blue cash everyday with 0% for 15 months and 13.49% after that so I went ahead and let him put it through and he said my card should be here in 7-10 days....so idk lol
