What is the actual opening date of Delta and ED?
Even if they all show member since 93 on the card, but if they opened after Jan 15 (precisely report after 3/22/15), they will NOT back date to 93 on your credit report.
Closed account will stay your report for 10 years, if you close account(s) today, you will loose a 10year old account and one possible 33 years old account in 10years.

AMEX ACCOUNT CONSOLIDATION?

Good Morning Everyone:

Quick question. I recently applied for the Blue Sky (for those that saw my next most recent post it was a bit of a faux pas on how I got there). Anyway, I was approved for $16,800 but they also reallocated some of my CL from the "Everyday" (Was $8500 Is $5200) Additionally I have the Delta Platinum ($6000) which is by far my most used AMEX card.

Obviously then AMEX can rebalance the CLs as neeeded and indeed the rep told me I can make the request to do so as I feel my needs change.

Question - if I asked them to close the Blue Sky and the Everyday, move both CL to Delta (for a total of $28,000) - will that help or hurt my account age metric? Member since 1993 is printed on each card so the 3 still average out to the same age as if there were only one. But to my mind those other two are diluting the average age of my other accounts which are generally much younger (all within 5 to 7 years).

I rely on the experts in this forum for my best move. Indeed I wouldn't be where I am with my scores without this community which I am always happy to be able to express my gratitude for.

Also, since the other two accounts rarely get used I like the idea of not having to remember to "dust them off" to keep them active. (Although yes, I do have reminders set for these events on all of my low use cards)

Any help or thoughts on this subject would be most welcome.

Thanks again!

Darryl
