Hidden American Express Platinum Benefits?

Hey everyone,

I just got my Amex Plat in the mail yesterday and I wanted to know if there were any hidden benefits most people aren't aware of that they don't advertise when you apply for the card.

Also are there any benefits that don't become active until you specifically request them? and how do you go about doing that?

I remember I had to request SPG and Hilton Gold. Those weren't automatic.

You need to call to enroll in the $200 airline fee credit, Hilton Hhoners gold status, SPG gold status, and Priority Pass select. Also dont forget to pay with it when doing global entry with TSA as they reimburse that expense as well.

I would suggest signing in on your MYCA account and clicking the benefits tab to read about everything it comes with as well.. There are a lot if benefits, some may be more relevant to you then others.. also check out AMEX offers to see if theres anywhere you shop at anyway

No prob Dendom.. I'll also add that when calling in to see if theres any other offers on the account.. There may be APR reductions, EXPO offers, etc.. Sometimes the EXPO offer will give you 10k bonus points just for enrolling... Even if you never intend to use it..you can keep paying in full and still get that free 10k points.

Very good information Irish! 👍. I just signed up both online (Airline and Hilton). Now I just need to call Amex to sign up for the SPG Gold status and the Priority Pass .

I should have put this in my other post but you don't need to call for Priority Pass. They just send you the card. You do need to call for SPG though

I'll definitely look into that EXPO offers 👍😊. Would be nice to get that extra 10k MR points!

Also check on the autmomatic Executive Level at National Rental Cars. My wife and I used this extensively. It's pretty nice when you walk in and get an automatic upgrade. I got a Dodge Charger one time no questions asked. Pretty nice.

Again, don't need to call. You enroll online.

Thank you all for the great info. I would have been missing out on a lot of benefits since none of these showed up on my benefits page or myac on Amex. I just called in and enrolled in all of them with a representative.

Yes!!! I agree!! I used this perk for the first time over the weekend and it was GREAT. I reserved a midsize vehicle and was able to get a Dodge Hemi pickup truck at no additional cost. This saved us approx $40 on a one day rental. This came in handy since we were moving our son into his college dorm. So using it multiple times.... I can only imagine how much money you've saved.

That's how I justify having the Platinum, the rental car benefits. That AF is swallowed up quick if you rent as much as I do. National is a winning combination with this card! Also, Hertz will match your National Executive status with their Five Star program. On another note, all the information should be on the website when you log in to see your balances and pay your bill... I studied it quite a bit when I was approved for the Platinum.

Also there have been multiple data points that you do not need to select the airline prior to the airline credit, on either platinums or PRGs, etc. You do need to select the airline ASAP after the purchase has been made. In case you wanted more flexibility.
