What's the rule of thumb on how much time one should wait before requesting CLI with Discover? Thanks!

31, 61 and 91 days but it looks like you have enough all ready and open credit, lol!.

Everytime I try and am denied, I receive a letter stating that it hasn't been six months, same with Citi and elsewhere.

I had been giving it 3-4 months and got instant luv every time, there's another thread here that suggested 31 days, tried it yesterday and got a 2 day notice.

This morning they bumped me another $1,500. Brings total CL over $11k, I'm so stoked.

It's never just about the passage of time. Creditors may have policies on how often you can request but that and what you qualify for are two entirely different things.

That's exactly what my decline letter from Citi would say. That I've recently had an increase (4 months ago) and that there must be six months between increases. There were no other reasons than that.

For me Discover has been 90 days consistently. Citi has been 180 days.

You're not alone... I was also in the $500 every 90 day club for a while. Then I paid them off (I was carrying a 0% BT) and my very next CLI was $4k, making my total CL $10.5k.

Oddly enough, that last time I tried a couple of weeks early, and got the 'not enough experience' letter... only to get my largest CLI to date shortly thereafter.

Some folks have luck earlier, but I'm not even going to try again until after 91 days have passed.

I've read people have had luck every 60 or 90 days, but who really knows because every credit profile is different. If you feel your profile supports a CLI, then request it. Best of luck to you!

Six months is the norm with Cap 1 and Citibank. You are the first person, I've read, to say you received a specific time frame from Discover.

I would try at the 6 months mark with Citi. If you want a specific credit limit, it may be worth it to take a HP. Good luck!

31 days have worked for me......200, 500, 1000, 1500 and this past month 2300.

It's frustrating, I've had Discover for about 3 months this is about to be my 4th mont, and every time they come back with a "insufficient history with your credit line" smh, disappointed w Discover so far

From what I have seen the first CLI can take a while with Discover, especially if you have a lower limit. Sometimes it has been over a year to get the initial CLI, but then it becomes more regular.

first 2 CLIs after opening the card was for me at every 91days interval. but after my cl reached 2000, i started getting big ones at 31 days. i have gotten two times at 31 days . first was 2000+ , and second was 3000+. my card started at 1000 , now it is at 7000 since i opened the card 8 or 9 months ago. i use it for daily purchases and pay it in full

Has anyone ever received an email to call in RE their CLI request? I just got an email and am not sure if its worth the hassel. They have given me CLIs several times already in the last 6-12 months and am not sure if they are going to want to grill me about that.
