Show of hands?

For me, the CSP is a better deal right now. In order to account for the AF being $55 more after the $300 travel credit, I'd have to use other cards less for general purchases, and I'm not a card pumper & dumper so I really don't care about the signup bonus value in year one. Plus who knows, maybe we get grandfathered in to the CSR eventually with our $95 vs. $150 AFs.

An annual fee of 450 is a little steep for MY spending patterns at This moment in time. I'm not a big fan of opening and closing accounts after a year or two. I prefer taking a long term view approach. So for me, no CSR for now. Of course that could change in the future.

It's worth noting that the AF is not really $150. It's $450. You still need to use up the $300 travel credit which for somebody like me is actually quite hard to do. I'd literally have to find things to buy to use the credit on lol

None at all. Before the CSP, I was on 0/24. Now, I have the CSP and Discover. so I am at 2/24.

My dream team for credit cards is CSP, Freedom, and FU. don't care about others. so after all that, I'll be at 4/5, with no interest in another card.

People who can't afford it, fair enough. People who can afford it, big mistake.

The 300 travel credit automatically posts which means if you travel $300 in a year, it's a straight up rebate/prepaid expense. Then you're looking at 95 vs 450-300 or 150 after year one

That extra 55 is paid back with 5.5k combined annual travel and dining if redeemed for statement credit (worst case) vs the CSP, or a mere 3.66k combined if redeemed for the travel credit on ultimate rewards at 1.5 cents per point. Haven't even mentioned the priority pass lounge access, which is definitely worth more than zero

CSP had 100k sign-up bonus back in 2011, and has had devaluation and reduced bonuses since. The best time to get the csr is asap

The CSR looks to be a great card with loads of benefits and credits, but I'm just going to app for it because I really want to wait and app for the Amex Plat. My CSP and Cap1 QS receive about 85% of my monthly spend and are more than enough for me right now. Also, I'm already two cards deep with Chase (Slate and CSP) and prefer to spread more love to Amex

I really don't know how so many people can be against applying for it. Yes if you dont have the cash for the annual fee or you have a questionable score (not trying to sound mean) I could see why not. However, due to the steep annual fee people with lower scores might still be approved.

I have to say this will be more first annual fee card anywhere near $500. The reason I think people are silly not to get it are:

$300 travel credit, lots of things code towards travel including hotels, rental car, airline tickets, uber car service does I think etc. this is per calandar year so you can actually get $600 worth before the first renewal . Therefore you effectively will be paid to have hte card.

It also has global entry credit I believe etc..

However! the #1 reason is 100k UR Points!!!! this is almost enough for a business class round trip ticket IE $3k or so.

I can't believe people wouldnt apply.

So unless you travel a moderate amount then this card isnt for you. There are plenty of other cards that can be more beneficial to many people.

I understand your points and they are the reason tha I will be applying for the card. However not everyone or even the majority of the posters on this board should apply for this card anymore than people should apply for the Amex Platinum when it has the 100K MR bonus. These are travel cards and if you dont travel, and having read these forums for awhile that is a lot of people, you shouldnt apply for travel cards especialy the higher end ones. There are far too many people that applied for threAmex Platinum card for the 100K MR points that had no idea how to use them and found out that they had no use for them yet were stuck with the card at least for awhile. The same thing is sure to happen with this card. It isnt the card of the century and is specifically designed to compete with the Citi Prestige and Amex Platinum. So unless you travel a moderate amount then this card isnt for you. There are plenty of other cards that can be more beneficial to many people.

Agreed. "Great card for some" does not mean "great card for everyone". Then you end up with people struggling to use their points.
