It was half of the total credit line of $12,500 which was $6250. They have reduced the cash portion down to $3125. No notice was given. I never used the cash portion of the account. They said they were not going to reduce the Purchase line of 12.5K. It was a business Decision and it wasn't personal

Current APR for purchases is 6.74% :?
Current APR for Cash is 12.24% :?

AMEX good news, Since they've backdated the accounts to the date when you first became a member, my credit history turned 22 years old as of Jan 2009. All three agencies report AMEX card was opened in Jan 1987, but in reality, the blue was open in Jan 08. I had the green card in 87, defaulted in 89. Unable to get Amex again until Jan 08, still at 23k and 5.99 APR

If you defaulted with Amex in '89, how did you get them to re-instate the age ??? Did they hold you to the payment on the default before backdating ?

jaxstraw - this is how many who get the back date can do it. it starts with a defaulted account that is 'resurrected'... i think depending on how long ago it went bad, etc. they may not take the money for it. i offered- called and gave them checking info and authorization but they never took the money, others are able to repay. still others, like plastic, receive the backdate with no outreach.

in my case i had already repaid the acct through collections more than 15 years ago but amex didn't seem to have a record of that, so don't know perhaps ultimately that is why they didn't take the money from me again before backdating my cards to 1990 upon request.

Everything was erased from my file so I started from scratch. However, CITI, & AMEX still had the records. They couldn't get money from me, I got rid of every card, and did not get a card until 1994 with chase and my BK was still on my report!

Thanks, I had an AMEX Green form '92 that I defaulted on in '94 and is way past SOL.

Applied and recieved Delta CC eight months ago and converted to Blue Cash a few months ago after Ducky's post.

It's listed on TU and EQ as account closed by consumer ( who knows why, I only started looking into my credit last year after over decade) so it gives good average age to those CR's.

I would love to get it back on EX for the same reason and to improve my standing w/ AMEX.

I know , I know, but someday we'll get through all this BS w/ AMEX and it might be helpful.

BTW, has anyone ever heard of product changing from a Blue to a Green ?? I know others have posted it can't be done but with AMEX leaning more towards charge cards supposedly, it is something I would be interested in if possible. Meeting that Blue Cash quota is possible but takes away from other rewards cards in the long run.

Maybe I'll give them a call and see what they say.

Message Edited by jaxstraw on 01-04-2009 05:04 AM
