CSR important info

This deserves its own thread so please don't delete or combine it into something else mods. There's something going on w Chase.

Obviously even those hates 5/24 and the only proven way to 100% pass it is an in bank prequal. CPC isn't even proven to pass it.

However, for some reason with the CSR a very very large amount(check Reddit) of people are getting an in bank prequal. People have been declined online, then gone in to the bank and pushed a second CSR app w prequal and been approved. Don't app online. Just don't. Go in to a bank and check for a prequal, once your sitting with the banker the whole thing takes 5minutes , you can even call ahead and set up an appointment.

On my prequal letter that was printed it stated you can either receive a prequal due to credit report info/chase existing relationships. If you have a cc/checking, etc, maybe they just changed something that it carries more weight now. Regardless, app IN BRANCH(assuming prequal) 5/24 does not automatically knock you out. I'm 8/24. 9 if you want to count store cards(that chase doesnt count).

AFAIK that's always mattered for Chase at least since I've been on this forum.

Anyway good tip regarding the in branch pre-qual, is how I've busted 5/24 more than once personally.

Ugh; I spent my prequal on the FU and not planning for a CSR anytime soon to try to test that one way or another.

(how that acronym has changed and will be confusing haha, I guess context will be different though "I talked to a CSR about reconning a CSR" will happen)

LOL... I agree!

A few people have advocated for referring to the Chase Sapphire Reserve as the "C$R", but I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Personally, when read in context 'CSR' isn't too hard to figure out (as you mentioned), just like we know when VS is 'Victoria's Secret' and when it is 'Visa Signature'. So far nobody's had trouble with those, and there's been no push to start using 'V$'. (?)

In any case I suppose as long as I can figure out what people are talking about I don't care too much what things are called... LOL.

Not sure why it would need to be called c$r CSR is more than clear if someone is writing a normal sentence in english. Its easy tell from context.

I have seen cs(r) used and it takes away any ambiguity when written like that.

That lets you write about the cs(p), cs(r) and csr all in the same paragraph without anyone getting confused about what you are saying.

The closest branch to me is New Jersey. Not sure why Chase is avoiding the DC area. But I had no choice but to apply online. I was over 5/24 and got the 7-10 day message. Checked my account today and the card is sitting in my account with a 15k credit line.

Could someone call a Chase branch and be told over the phone from a banker if they were pre-qual? Just curious as if this is possible. I know my closest location is just over 3 hours away.

As Revelate said this has been long known with Chase and has been reported multiple times in existing threads. Additionally not everyone has this option because Chase doesn't have branches everywhere including some very large and populated areas.

I thought there were Chase branches near DC, specifically in NOVA? (I could have sworn I saw at least one Chase bank branch in NOVA?)

Nope according to Chase nearest branch to me in Montgomery County, MD is 145 miles away in NJ. I just checked by using a zip code for Fairfax, VA and no branches anywhere near there as well. Supposedly they are going to put some in the area but we I'll see how that goes.

I just called the branch that's close to where I'll be this weekend. He said he could look and see if I'm pre-approved, but it wouldn't tell him for what cards and such because I'm not in the branch with him. He looked and said he couldn't find any offers for me at this time however to come in and open up a checking account and that usually helps with pre-approvals. So maybe I'll go open up a checking account with $100 and see what happens.
