I'm surprised that Citi hasn't forced the issue with Dividend yet. They have invited people to convert but you are, as of now, still free to decline and keep your Dividend. Of course, as others note, they have steadily made the categories less and less useful for the majority, probably hoping people convert the card.

Has been discontinued for 2+ years now so I would say the time is probably coming when it will be forced but who knows? Oddly, Citi didn't force convert the Forward to Thankyou Preferred, but rather created a sort of nerfed Forward/Thankyou Preferred hybrid card (difference being including bookstores). So you just never know.

It's about time for this card! Once my goto card, it got supplanted by a Fidelity 1.5% card, which got supplanted by a DoubleCash card. Dividend has been in my sock drawer until recently with an AT&T Universal card, when I used it to climb over the cash back limit and claim.

I had one of the Dividend cards that had my picture and signature printed on the front of the card. I should have kept one of those - it was cool.

I was thinking of asking Citi in a few months to merge this with my DoubleCash. perhaps also with my aged AT&T Universal card.

For any who also had a DoubleCash and gets one of these Dividend letters, what's the offer/suggestion?

(my first post, long time lurker though)

Wondered how long the Citi Dividend Card would survive? The categories have been limited but seems to me when I have needed a category on a card I had it was out of season (not a category card fan for myself). My CIti Dividend World Elite Master Card has a revolving limit. When the great Citi Double Cash came to be and many were p/c'ing to it the revolving option did not go forward. Since I have a Citi Double Cash Back WEMC what do I change to? Nothing interests me and I have had Thank You Points and they are not fitting my life style. My legacy Citi Forward Visa Signature (no revolving limit options) was closed June 4 as I did not need a Citi Thank You Preferred Card (already been there). Seems Citi has slowed card development and rewards. Wonder when the others will catch up? Note, Citi has had to do some serious right sizing in the last couple of years and is starting to look like a regional bank back from the late 1970's (has not received a lot of public notice).

Burned2manybridgesB4 thanks for the reminder! I totally zoned that option out ... may have been missing some opportunities. Did take advantage of the 2nd Qtr 2016 Categories. Noticed that several different lenders have been narrowing their categories and how often they offer them. Maybe it is a sign of the times?!

That card has probably hastened the death of the rotating category type of cards. Or we are just seeing the normal evolution of offerings.

The pace of innovation may decrease. Truly revolutionary, game changing types of card offerings may not happen as frequently with benefits as rich as we can get currently.

I've had the Dividend card for years now, and I've not heard any whisper from Citi about converting it. I do not have the DoubleCash card, and have no use for it, as I have the Fidelity Visa at 2%.

The categories have been lackluster ever since I converted to the Dividend card, but I still hope... Actually, I've made some use of the Drugstore, Home and Garden, Home Improvement and Car Rental categories, when not overlapping Freedom or Discover.

Chris.

Does Dividend offer any additional quarterly cashback categories, other than the dept. stores, home improvement, and travel categories you had listed above? Also j/c, are the quarterly categories like the U.S. Bank Cash+, where you can carry the same ones over to the next quarter if you want to, or is it like the Discover IT and Chase Freedom, where you can't?

The 2016 categories (somewhat lame, IMO) can be found at https://www.citi.com/credit-cards/credit-cards-citi/citi.action?ID=dividend-quarterly-offer
