I'm pretty sure the PC'ing up to a higher AF card restriction is some fair credit law that's out there. Not sure about the details on it, but I don't think it's a policy of the banks - their hands are tied with it.

So back on the end of April I received my CSP with 15K on it, put a good spend on it every month, around 75%, pay in full before statement cuts, same with FU. So from a in-house profile stand point with Chase, not a bad customer. Knowing that I would probably surely be shot down for Reserve due to 5/24 and with no Chase branches within 200 miles of me, decided to call to pc. In speaking with the Chase rep, I was told that I have to have CSP for a year before I can switch over. Does this seem right to everyone.

I have noticed a good number on here and around web pc'ing over to Reserve. thought it would be a piece of cake. After all, I pc'ed my Freedom to the FU after only having it for 3 weeks. So I guess my ??? is, has anyone else who has tried to switch over been told that they have to wait a year with the CSP?? You would think someone willingly wanting to pay $450 a year and forego a large sign-up bonus would be welcomed with open arms. Did I just get an uniformed rep? Same thing happened when I first tried to swap Freedom cards, 1st agent said I couldn't. Waited a few days called back and it was done in minutes. I welcome anyones experiences in this area and appreciate everyones opinions and insight as always. Thank You.

That's correct. You wouldn't be able to PC up to a higher AF card before you reach your 1 year mark with the card. However you are able to PC down to a lower or no AF card at anytime, which prob sums up why you were able to PC your freedom and FU within 3 weeks because they both had no AF so if didn't matter.

Now with both of you saying that, I believe you may be correct. I recall something along those lines in the card act, don't remember exact rules, but that could be the case. Thank you for bringing that to light. Guess it is an app for ritz then pc. LOL

LOL

Going from Ritz to CSR isn't going to work either. In general it's not as simple as just applying and PCing right away to what you want. Most banks do not allow immediate PCs for this reason. The credit standards for every product vary and you could easily backdoor your way into cards you don't qualify for.

Anyway, you have to wait a year to PC. You can't even do a Visa Signature upgrade before then. In this specific case it's because of the annual fee/CARD act.

I am fairly certain he meant that he would apply for the Ritz and then when he gets the year for the CSP he will PC to a CSR.

I am currently at 10/24. The Chase rep said I could app for it, but when I brought up the number of cards in last 2 yrs, he agreed that it is an unwritten rule that they have so that he said that probably won't work either. Have seriously considered burning an inquiry just to see the outcome, after all it could be 1 for 100,000. Better odds than casino.
