I got a 10K starting line for a Quicksilver two years ago when I had gotten my first card about 7 months earlier, a $1500 Barclay Rewards. Then they saw fit to approve me for the Sallie Mae a few months later, for $4700.

Prior to 2014 the only thing on my credit reports was my student loans, so it's worth noting that their excellent credit criteria state the following:

I have had a loan or credit card for 3 years or more with a credit limit above $5,000

Thanks to my wonderful student loans, I qualified as excellent credit, so if you have those or an auto loan, you should as well. These may not even be necessary thanks to your high FICOs. I can't recall what I had at the time, but likely 730 because I was near 720 when I got my second card. Good luck!

Quicksilver Question

I noticed a lot of people who have the QS had the QS1 first. My guess is because the QS1 is the easier of the two cards to get. I would like to have just the QS. I know I can get the QS1 and product change to a QS but I would like a visa card in my billfold and if I went that route, I know it will stay a Mastercard. Yes, I could just apply for the Chase Freedom but I had some issues with owning a $150 dollar overdraft on a checking account with them I had almost 10 years ago and I'm unsure if i'm blacklisted. Nto sure if I want to risk the hard pull yet. However, This is also an option to get the Visa card I want. But I'm trying to take the ath of least resistance. So, my question: is there any way for me to bypass the QS1 and get the QS. I understand the QS's requirements by Capital one's standards is excellent credit, which is having one card for at least three years with a credit limit of at least $5000 (although I read, on these forums that it has seen been reduced).

As of right now I only have a Discover card with a $1,500 CL. This has been open for 9 months. I don't plan on applying for any cards until I hit the one year mark. When I do I will be applying for two cards at once so that they can age together. I am also an AU on my fiance's BOA card. That has a 1,500 dollar CL as well and has been open for 2.5 years. My credit score via my Discover FICO is a 776, I assume it is the same for Equifax as I have the same info (inquires and all) reporting on that bureau. My Discover scorecard puts my Experian FICO is at a 786.

Does anyone have any experience with obtaining the Quicksilver without having to apply for the QS1 beforehand? If, so any suggestions?

Thanks!

My SO got the QS visa as his first card, at that point he had been an AU on 2 of my cards for about a year and a half (and his scores are/was lower than yours) so it is completely possible to get the QS visa and skip the QS MC.

As per the OPs question - I think your scores are definitely well over the threshold for a QS card. A limited credit history may be a concern.

Have you utilized the search function on this forum to gather some recent Cap1 data points with regards to credit history? I would highly recommend you do so as there is a ton of useful info out here.
If you're still undecided after the research, I suggest a cold app for a QS card. Yes it's a triple pull but my hunch is you get the QS; most likely as your highest credit limit..

@ TruBlu- I have searched the forums quite a bit looking for info. Many of those who were approved for the QS Visa had their longest account open for 2 years at minimum. I'm not sure how much weight they'd give to the BOA that I'm an AU in which is why I'm waiting until my Discovery card hits a year.

Thanks everyone for your input! Although, I know getting approved isn't a sure thing, you all confirmed my thoughts on it and made it a bit easier for me to apply when the time comes.
