Small limits on a few other cards. By small o mean less than $400. The ccr was the person who told me 6 months call back. If they're permanently closed will that blacklist me from Chase? The main card I'd even want back is the CSP I don't think there's another card like it

So right after I was approved for the Ritz Carlton card I opened the box to see my new card. Six hours later all my chase cards on in my apple wallet were deactivated. i called the number on the back of card to find that all my accounts were closed!!! **bleep** you approve me for a card and then you close it out after I activate the card? Where do they do that at? I called and spoke with a represintive and she said that the accounts were closed because I've opend 12 accounts within the last 12 months(alot I know) but I wouldn't have applied unless I knew I could pay down the balacnce and would have never applied for the Ritz if it was going to result in a closure. Rep wasn't having it, now that i look back she was kinda rude. Anyways was told that I can call back within 6 MONTHS to see if they would reinstate the accounts. So HYATT, RITZ and CSP are out of commition untill further notice. WHat do I do to make sure that they aren't permantley closed. My scores are 700 across the board and I am under 30% utilization on all my cards. I read on here that paying them off could result in permanent closure so I figured I'd divide the balance by 6 months and pay down on my balances that way. Any advice or inpaticular succes stories would be greatly apprecitated!!!!

Unfortunately if they are closed it is permanent in Chase's eyes. All you can do is ask for a reopen (probably a hard pull) or just let it go and move on, take it as a lesson about opening too many accounts in a short period. Many have been there so don't be ashamed of it, just learn and move on.

Opening the new account likely triggered a review and Chase didn't like what they saw (12 accounts in 12 months, etc).

Sorry, OP. The good news is you have plenty of other cards.

All the more reason to hate America's biggest bank.

I think of all the accounts I've had between checking, savings, credit cards, etc., Chase is the most hated, followed by Barclays, and M&T (mostly just because they have high fees and less than average technological advancements).

Chase closed by checking account out of the blue (only company to ever do such a thing to me), and then failed to open another for me about two years later when I applied. So what did I do? Turned around and closed out my credit card with them.

5/24 shouldn't even be a discussion around here. I still don't understand why the hell anyone would want to lump several accounts under the same lender let alone Chase, Comenity, Synchrony, etc. It just isn't a safe thing to do when you're experienced enough to know better. Is it just all the free "gifts" luring everyone into making dumb decisions?

what pisses me off is that you take years to build up a decent score and then chase just closes the accounts out of now where. I mean I pay all my bills on time, pay more than the minium and this is the thanks I get. It's like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. The CSP I manged to transfer to my fiance's Freedom. But those cards were my highest limits and CHase seems to have the best cards out there so that sucks. I mean you have a 5/24 rule why keep making things harder for people who want to do bussiness with you. Im gonna pay down the balances and just see what happens in 6 months. If they decide to keep them closed then I'll give them a piece of my mind. Was being nice since I wanted them to reopen the accounts at that time

Sorry but you don't really need 17 cards total much less from one lender. You're just creating massive exposure and making yourself stand out.

My advice for average Joe consumer is to get 3-4 cards from different banks, get them up to decent limits, pay in full every month, and just live your life. Chasing after every reward or bonus can definitely have consequences.

One of the issues that are happening here is that Chase, like any other lender, would actually like for you to use their cards so they can earn swipe fees. With 12 cards in 12 months, your options are way too many. Sure too many credit cards in a short period of time is a credit risk, but a lender also considers that your spend may be spread too thin and they may not be getting enough swipes.

One way to show them that you would, since you asked for sugegstions on what would make it more likely for Chase to reactivate your accounts down the line, would be to close some of your other accounts voluntarily. Fewer revolving accounts is both less risk and it tells Chase you want to use them, not the other guys.

Will this guarantee success? No. And you may also want to consider the cost of closing the other cards.

I doubt they are losing any sleep over a few customers being unhappy with account closures.

@I have to agree with @yfan here. Also, something else in your profile caused them to close your account and not just new accounts. There are many people on here with more than 12 accounts accrued last year and Chase has not bothered to close them down.

I am sorry to hear this happen but there is more to credit than paying bills on time. I know you are pissed right now and rightly so, but once the anger fades, take the time and approach getting new accounts / cards strategically moving forward.

Hang in there.

I am really sorry this happened to you OP. I admit, it's easy to get caught up, especially when you hang around here, wanting all the new and shiny things I hope it works out for you.

I have about 15 inquries and the 12 new open accounts in a year. That was wht the CR said to me and siad that my AAoA is too short which is why the accounts were closed. I thought about what one poster said maybe close a couple cards that I don't really need to show Chase that I will use their cards more in the future. But the thing is I mainly use my AMEX PRG so that I don't have much debt and the CSP....it really sucks that it was the day I got the RITZ that is happened and I only used it once to by something at MCDonalds and that's it. I plan on paying down my CSP to about $500 currently its at $2300 and the Hyatt down to $200, it's only at $1200 and calling back in maybe 4 months to see what they say. I get that opening new accounts right now isn't a good idea so defineyly won't be doing that(Was gonna garden for about 2 years after getting the Ritz anyways). Like I said just pisses me off that this happened, I've been responsible with the cards but not so much with the applying for new credit and still feel that that's not really a completly valid reason for closing my accounts. to make matters worse I'm pretty sure that Trip Delay claim I had been working on isn't gonna go through if they closed the Sapphire card.....Really hoping they open the accounts back up. Again any success storires about getting accounts closed for seeking new credit and new accounts. It's not like I completyly burned them or anything
