How reliable are pre-qualifications from Chase, Amex. and Creditcards.com CardMatch.

A few months ago on the Amex site it said I was prequalified for the Everyday card and the blue cash rewards. Chase prequalified me starting 2 weeks ago. Before that it wrote "we could not find any offers at this time". They prequalified me for the Slate and Freedom. On creditcards.com the cardmatch feature they had prequalified me for pretty much all of the Amex cards including the travel ones, and same for Chase. What was wierd was that Cardmatch matched me to Chase even before Chase prequalified me. They matched me 3 weeks ago, then a week later Chase prequalified me. The only thing that makes me question all of this is that my scores are pretty low in mid 650's. I would really like the Chase Sapphirepreffered. Any thoughts?

Pre Quals from Chase and Amex are fairly reliable, of course with anything there can still be a denial even with a Pre Qual however. Not sure mid 650's will cut it for a CSP but you will only know by applying. CSP likes to see experience with higher limits in your profile since the have a $5k SL, good luck.

If I get denied for CSP can I then try to apply for the freedom? Hmm personally my larger credit limit is $2500 from capital one. I have a overstock credit card for $3200 not sure if that counts.

The CSP is a signature card so you will definitely need to be approved for atleast a 5K limit. As noted above by Creditguy, Chase definitely likes to see experience with higher limits, i.e. 5K+ limits before taking a chance.

I would recommend getting your foot in the door with Chase via a Freedom or a Freedom Unlimited card. These don't need a 5K approval like the Saphire Preferred. Also once you build a solid history with Chase they will throw open the doors for you for a higher limit card, as long as you have no derogs on your CRs.

Thanks for the input, in that case I will go with the freedom! I have a house scheduled to close on the 7th. After it closes I will apply for the freedom and update the results here. Thank you!

I actually caved and applied for the CSP 😎 very surprised that I was approved without a pre approval! Limit was 6k before this my highest limit was 2.5k fromCap1. I called Chase for a higher limit they said they had to pull my credit again, I thought it was strange since they had just rann it literally 5 min ago. But he insisted that was the only way. He ran it and he said I was approved for 13.2k! I think it was worth the double pull lol. Especially considering my scores are at about 660 now!

That is incorrect information. I had a Chase Amazon Visa Signature with an $800 limit until I recently closed it.

I was curious about the Prequalify too, I wanted to try a mileage card so I tried the pre-q for Chase and they offered up three cards to pick from after I filled out the basic info....Freedom, Slate, and CSP...I selected CSP and it took me to a page for more info...address, SS, income, etc. ask if I wanted an AU...added my wife..hit enter and approved for 5k!! Really shocked! Really pleased!

I have a BoA Rewards 1k, Cap1 QS 3k, Sync 5.3k, AMEX ED 2k, 1 year ago I had total CL of 1k on BoA

Congrats, I felt the same way, maybe try to double pull for more limit if you need?!

And I just applied for the Freedom Unlimited today, I got the 7-10 business day message, which was followed by a phone call from Chase Fraud department asking me to verify a whole bunch of stuff before they could process my application. After it was done he said they would review the application and get back to me in 7-10 days. I asked him if I was denied he said it didnt give him that information and still was under review. An hour later I called the application status number, and got in touch with a rep and she said it was still under review no denial or approval yet. Any thoughts on this anyone? Does this generally mean it will get denied or still a chance for approval?

That is incorrect information. I had a Chase Amazon Visa Signature with an $800 limit until I recently closed it.

While chase has recently been issuing the Amazon visa as a signature card with less than $5k limits, you'd be hard pressed to find other chase cards doing the same. Regardless, the CSP is a minimum $5k limit.

PS In response to your question, Chase and Amex prequal's are reliable, I don't know about that other one.

The other one, CardMatch, is not reliable unless the cards returned show a single interest rate and the opt out notice. The others are just advertising like Credit Karma.

It is sort of correct information. While many flavors of Visa are issued as a signature with a SL less than $5K, the CSP isn't one of those. It does have a minimum of $5K.

So today I kind of got carried away.. I applied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve and of course I got the 7-10 days message. So I called the lending department and they said they could not approve me for any additional cards. So I told them to close my newly created Sapphire Preffered and transfer the credit to the Reserve. And they agreed! So I now have a Chase Sapphire Reserve. Im pretty baffled that they would approve with someone with low scores like me.. They said it would arrive in 2-4 weeks!
