Because most people in the real world pay little attention to the various cards available and have no idea there are 2% everything cards. Most people just get a card from their bank (i.e, TD!) or whatever is advertised the most, and use it for most or all purchases. No reason for TD to give out extra rewards when most people are just fine with 2% dining, 1% elsewhere.

OK, so they just issued a new TD Cash rewards card to replace the old TD Cash Rewards card. Difference is 2% at resteraunts and no FTF...really with cards in my wallet like Citi DC with 1%+1% on everything...how is this going to encourage me to use that card. Why did they have to reissue another card, just to an extra 1% at resteraunts and remove the FTF...I do not get it!!!

Yeah their cards don't seem very competitive. The Aeroplan one is nice though.

I have this card. It's my oldest account. It started off as a secured card with one percent cash rewards. Then to my surprise it graduated to a non secured regular credit card. I had a little fraud and it was taken care of right away---customer service was nice. Next it got a CLI to 5,000 and finally the new reward upgrade for retraunts with no FTF. I even like the new card design better.

I can see why most wouldn't be excited by this card but for me it's been great to start out with and be able to keep around as my oldest account.

The reduction in FTF has been said in the press to be the next offering/benefit on credit cards. The incrase/change/trend from previous years from a large sampling of card issuers seems to be catching.
