Citi finally shows me some pre-approval.

I had a CO & paid in less than full in 2012 and I didnt see any pre-approvals till now. I guess everyone got some new data on me just last week or so. Discover showed me a 13-16% APR offer, Citi is showing me a few of them too. Feels good even though I am not applying for anything till I am done with Chase and I am not touching Chase at least till mid-Oct (hopefully still get the CSR offer).

Same thing happened to me. Instead of going for AA card, I waited for a few months. Righfully so, got a pre-approved mailer for Double Cash. App'ed and got a decent 4.3K limit.

Unless you're desperate for AA card, waiting for a better card might be an option...but, it's upto you.

I don't need any cards now, I am going to hold off for a while before I go in for anything. I was just curious if Citi changed anything and showed me any pre-approvals and was glad to see one

Although it is not guaranteed in any way, I find that if your profile continues to improve, you will see better and better offers from banks over time so it can pay not to bite on the first one you get.

Just as a point of reference, I have no interest in the AA card, but the website prequal says I am qualified at 22.24%. I got a mailer on Friday for a 14.24% rate for the same exact card. Still not taking it, but the point is that patience can be helpful. Your gut instinct on whether to wait or not is usually correct.

Yea I have a feeling that they may not even approve me because of old CO (though it was paid off in less than full to Citi). Also I have no need for Citi cards, they had one card I would have applied for before they nuked all the rewards.

Same for me. Mailer with low APR, website a brutal 23%. Then the next week Mailer came in at 23%. Arghh Citi

Thank you galahd. It feels good that pre-approval do come back with some results even though I don't want to apply for anything. When I couldn't, I wanted to apply for every possible card now, not so much.

I too recently saw my first ever preapprovals from Citi and I do not have any of thier cards currently. It felt great!

The down side is I'm waiting to be out from under 5/24 so I will not apply until I get the Reserve and Freedom or FU. I have 6 months or so to wait and I feel like I need a support group at this point. I'm at 6/24 with two of the six Chase cards. Both cards I got are not under 5/24 so I could have got them anytime. Fail.

Six months or so, I can make it right doc? Tell me I'm gonna make it doc!

Have you tried in branch pre approval? May be you will get lucky and they may approve you for CSR

I have tried with no success so far. I have two Chase cards and a good history with them. I even opened a checking account there several months back to hopefully improve my chances and stuck a little money in there. Heavy use of my Chase Hyatt card for the last four months, which last month resulted in a surprise credit line increase. Hoping that means they did a fresh soft pull on me and maybe I will have one now? Going to try in a couple weeks for the third time.
