NASAFCU Credit Line Decrease

My NSAFCU Cash Visa had and SL of $8700 and recently they decreased it to $1k due to Fico Score, which never changed since my approval. Recently it has gone up 50+ points. Has anyone had this happen and have they had any luck getting their CL back up? Thank you

Wow! That's a big drop for a score that has increased. You may want to find out if they are looking at someone elses's credit score instead of yours. If their score doesn't match your score, something is certainly off and unfortunately it is up to you to state your case.

NASA is known for AA. One of the few CUs that behaves like a bank. 😩 Really weird they stated Fico score as reason yet you said it never changed. Sounds to me that they have adjusted their UW criteria on the fly again. Happened before and they closed and cld accounts left and right that no longer fit their criteria. Not very fond of NASA at all!! 😡

Yeah, I was beyond livid. Put a ton of $$ through it and alway PIF. Racked up $75 in cash reward in only a few months and then this happens. I called them after my score jumped 50+ points and they said a new app would have to be put in for the CLI.. Forget that.. thinking of just closing my savings and card with them at this point.

That happened to me with Discover. Dropped them like a bad habit. I'll drop any card that drops my CLI like that even though from where I sit, my credit profile didn't get any worse. Personally, a $1000 CL after having $8500 is a joke and wouldn't be worth my time keeping the card anymore.

They lowered my CL and stated it was due to my Fico, and that never changed from the day I was approved. Now, recently it has gone up over 50 points and I was hoping they would see that internally (I am using their internal score) but they said it would be a new app. They taketh away, put won't giveth back, after my credit was higher than my starting score.. lol

Seems odd that they would do that, but I'm glad I saw this because I forgot that I haven't put ANY spend on my NASA card yet this year. Better go take care of that.

The only reason why I'd think I'd keep it would be if it's the oldest card and you can sockdrawer it for AAoA, otherwise I'd probably close it. But if I hadn't done anything wrong, I don't think I'd be all that interested in giving them any more of my swipe fees.

They must take pointers from Barclays.

I was going along nicely with their card, making plenty of swipes and PIF but the first time i took them up on a Low APR for life of a BT, Bam! theey swooped in and torpedoed the card.

And i was only on about the 3rd payment cycle too. No way to treat customers if you ask me but then they don't care and neither do i now.

I had NASa close a 20k Visa because of 2 inquires and 1 new account... Sad. They are worse on AA than Barclay is sad. I figured Barclay would be the one to AA me. Just goes to show you.

Funny, thing is after I closed my savings I got a letter from the President. I responded to it to why I closed my relationship, ie them closing my Visa.

I had it out with them over it for all the good it did just to get it off my chest.

IMHO a very sorry CU and one that i can never recommend or place confidence in again ever.

That being said i am still curious what might possibly pan out later down the line with them.

@Baller and @CrediMagic - So you had some crappy experiences with the too it seems. You both canceled your membership with them? I should as well, it would help my AoA as well.. Not worth the $1k CL. Thank you guys, think you helped me make up my mind.

I was just a member with a savings account. They denied me twice for a card for having too much credit. And after seeing how they treat cardholders, I am really glad they denied me. They are a joke! 😠

Seriously, if they continue this retracting trend which they been on for what seems like so many month now, AND also continue to be paper thin sensitive over the ambitions of customers who really want to build and advance their own credit profiles, maybe they should get out of the card issuance business and stick with other lending practices instead.

Sorry to hear, I'm still curious of what they looked for when doing these AA and closings? I've had way more inqs and new accounts than that since opening the NASA account. Seems as though they'd want folks to use their products in order to make money.

That's why is good to keep a couple of CU's and Banks in your back pocket.

I just threaten to close one of mine today because of bill pay issues. The CU manager emailed me not long ago apologizing and taking care of the issue. I want them to know..I DON'T NEED THEM..and will drop any of them like a bad habit. Just too many out there willing and wanting members to worry with one.
