Chase date of birth verification request? *UPDATED

Hi There!

I applied for a Chase CC and recieved a letter stating that they were unable to verify my date of birth. I'm wondering if this means that they have already approved my application, or could it just mean that they haven't even begun the approval process? I sent in a copy of my birth certificate today so maybe I'll hear something by next week. I was just wondering if anyone recieved this particular request and what your outcome was.

Had this happen to me when I apped for my CSP. Faxed in my ID and then I was approved.

I thought I would come back and update in case anyone else had the same question.

I sent in a copy of my birth certificate, but Chase said that the embossed portion wasn't visible and asked me to fax in a copy of my drivers license. While I was on the phone with Chase, someone from their fraud department called and left a voicemail asking me to call them. I called them back and they were able to process my application and I was approved! They really make you work for their credit! I appreciate their due diligence, but I have never had a credit application require so much time and effort.

My credit line is $3500. I've been working on my credit for the past 14 months. I started with a Cap1 secured mastercard, and now have a Cap1 unsecured mastercard, Home Depot store card, Discover, and now Chase Visa. So now I'll be gardening for the next 2yrs.

I think they were having issues with ID verification. Chase uses a organic scoring method that needs more personal info to determine credit worthiness. They do use credit scores to help but it is more on what is in the report than minor details like age. Usually by that point you have made yourself interesting enough to have a set of terms on standby and they are just filling in the holes to make sure that in the future they don't have this issue again when you apply for another Chase card.
