What the What!? Capital One Venture Rewards

Received an e-mail this morning regarding a Capital One account that I had NO idea that I have had since 2014. E-mail stated that they were having returned mail regarding account ending in ****. So I get on the chat this morning to inquire and sure enough, I have a Capital One Venture Rewards card with a $5,000 CL! They are sending me a new card that I should receive by the end of the week. I asked if since I didn't activate the card in 2014 if I would be eligible for the entrance promotion and they told me I'd need to call the rewards department. Anyone had any luck with this?

I'm thinking maybe I didn't get an instant approval so I forgot about it? I also had a Cap One QS, and a Cap One Business card so I just thought the account on my CR was one of these. At least it is showing an almost 3 year perfect payment history.

Good point longtimelurker, maybe he got lucky been approved for V1, otherwise, a charge off for $59 plus penalty and int would be terrible

Was the V1 card even a product in 2014? I thought the QS1 and V1 were fairly recent additions to the product line. He representative stated it was the Venture rewards card though so who knows? I'm not going to be sad over a new credit line and a perfect 3 year payment history.

Yes, there are reviews of it going back to early 2014 at least

Correct.

Venture One was my very first credit card back in April 2014 with a 3K SL.

Back then it was a nice shiny gold card. It has served me well and I'm now at 9750..

card activation is just a security measure, has nothing to do with account open/close or credit reporting

Received my card today and it is the Venture Rewards card Visa Signature.
