topic Some data about FNBO in Credit Cards

I was just rejected for my FNBO 2% card. My scores are low 700s and I have another card with them I got about a year and a half ago (FNBO backs the card issued by my local bank).

I called into a credit analyst this morning and learned some interesting stuff. She said that everything looked good in my application but they denied only because of inquiries (I know this can't usually be trusted in a denial letter, but her explanation seemed sound). She said they specifically look at 3, 6 & 9 month inquiries and for my profile, 3 & 6 were both fine, but that there were too many for them in past 9 months. She said I had 8 & 10 inquiries on two reports (didn't say which 2), and asked if I thought those were accurate. I indicated they are accurate (I have lots of new accounts in the past 2 years). She said she could submit for reconsideration if I wanted to provide an explanation of why I had so many inquiries; I declined because she said it would require another hard pull (which would just exacerbate the situation I guess).

So, I had always heard that FNBO was inquiry (and probably new account) sensitive, but it's very useful to know that they look specifically at 3, 6 & 9 month inquiries.
