HI,

Does anyone know what the minimum credit score is to get a BestBuy store card and if chances of getting approved are better online or in store? My credit score are all in the low to mid 600's

Thanks

I got approved recently with a $2000 SL with 6 inquires, my EQ at the time was 651 at 6% utilization total and one baddie from 2014.

Same thing happened to me last June. Was told my FICO was okay for the card but because of my INQ's there was nothing he would do to override the denial. I'd at least make sure you had no more than 6 in the last 12 months. That counts me out. I have just a teeny bit more than that. 🙄

Speaking with the UW Mgr was sort of funny. He didn't really want to tell me the "magic number" for inquiries, so we kind of played the "higher", "lower", "lower" game until I guessed correctly. At the end of the call I still didn't have a BB card, but got to be the next contestant on "guess the max inquiries"../

I just wanted to mention, I have a very high number of inquires... 70 and my imac crashed from a power surge. Had been denied by best buy twice applying online. While I as at the store, they asked and I said sure, whats one more inquiry at this point. My score on equifax is 750, and it came up with an instant approval for 4k, asked if I wanted visa or store card. I would have to say they always denied previously for inquires and was shocked with approval!

Got approved in store for BB Visa even after a recent online denial. 650's Ficos at the time, and at least 30 inq's on whatever CR they pulled.

Also got a mailer for Diamond Preferred shortly after, approved for $5k after address verification (they had sent it to my old address a few months after I had moved).

Best Buy is definitely easier to get in store while you're buying something.

From my own personally experience on Thanksgiving when I was approved, I had scores in the low 700s across the board. I also have a handful or two of inquiries but they didn't reject me
