Question about having the right mix

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and have a question about the right credit mix. I have two orchard bank cards, one master and the other visa, a capital one card, and a car loan. Is this a good mix or should I add some other type of card?

You need a store card, something without a visa/mastercard logo on it.

I have read on this forum that people recently were approved for Target store cards.

What are your scores? What baddies do you have on your report? The best store card to have is one in which you will use it. Nothing is worst than to have a card that you rarely use because you do not shop there. You will need to purchase something at least every 3-6 months to keep the card active and to force yourself to buy somethig that you would normally not buy because you do not shop there is a huge headache.

what stores do you shop at regularly that have store cards?

Macys is a very good store that will approve you, but again, do you shop there?

I don't really shop anywhere, so to me it doesn't matter. I just want to be approved and I will go there to buy something.

If there is a macys around you, then i think your best bet is to apply for one. YMMV

Macys is pretty good at approving.

Oracles has a good point, don't get a Macy's card if you don't shop there.

Which is why I mentioned Target as an option, or even Wal Mart (store card not Discover), they have a lot of everday stuff to buy which makes it easy to keep the card active. You can't buy Cheetohs at Macy's. LOL!!!

You might also consider a store card that is likely to remain a store card. That's one thing that's nice about Macy's -- it actually reports as two TLs if you get upgraded to the Visa.

Hey guys, thanks for your help! I called the Macy's back door number and they reactivated a card I had from 8 years ago, and gave me an cl of $800 instead of the $100 I had back then. I talked to two people though and neither one of them could tell me if it was a soft or hard inq. Anyway I have the mix I want, and I am done apping for a while.
