FNBO Terminating Relationship with Discover Network

Hi all,

Got a letter today stating FNBO is terminating their relationship with Discover and will be converting all Discover branded cards issued by them to AMEX cards with a fixed 1.5% cash back on all purchases. The new rewards program of 1.5% is effective Dec 1 2016 and when the cash back balance reaches 25 it will automatically credit to your account. The official date of the network switch is Jan 22, 2017.

I dont really like auto credit of earned rewards and the cash back percentage is okay but not the best that I have so other than carrying a balance on this card financed at 5.99% for the entire life of said balance I will not be using it for any purchases.

Thanks for this heads up and so it pretty much confirms what is been circulating of late.

A few months ago I had saved the page to app their Discover branded card only to find it missing when checking on it last month.

Any Idea why the relationship is terminated? Seems like an interesting rewards structure. I am not sure how I would feel about it if I owned the card. Discover co-branded cards seem to be going the way of the Dodo over time.

I wouldn't mind learning what the reason why was too.

Maybe someone with a long enough history with FNBO cards wouldn't mind chiming in on that for us.

FNBO also no longer appears to offer personal / non-business MCs anymore either, which I thought was kinda interesting. At one point, they were one of the very few banks that offered credit cards on all available networks: MC, VISA, Amex, and Discover. Now it seems they only offer VISA and Amex.

They still offer the Club O Mastercard.

Interesting. Wonder how much longer? Worth keeping an eye on maybe as 2017 rolls out.

It does seem to be some changing of the guard going on right now.
