topic Re: Citi Card Consolidation? in Credit Cards

I just tried this. I've got an AAdvantage and an HHonors card, with $14.4k and $11k, respectively. Never use the HHonors, so I wanted to combine into the other. Back and forth secure messaging, 6 times, said they Citi does not do that as a business. So, I called today, wished them a Merry Christmas, and as stated here previously, asked for an "account manager". The account manager initially stated I could move $10.7k to the AA because I had to keep $300 on it, but then came back and said the rules recently changed, and I had to leave a minimum of $4k on it. Said it'll be a HP, asked for income, and pressed send. Said I'll find out in 24-48 hours. So, I think it can be done.....fingers crossed. Also, I just accepted a $1.4k SP CLI on Friday for the AA.

Citi Card Consolidation?

Hey all,

Not sure how many times this has been covered on the forum, but I've been interested in combining/rotating some credit limits between my Citi cards. I currently have a 15 month old Thank You Preferred ($3,400), 1 year old Diamond Preferred ($6,200), and a brand new American Airlines Platinum Select World Elite M/C ($6,000). Would really like to know what policies are in place and what experinces you guys have with trying to combine. I've called Customer Service multiple times and they mostly have no idea what they're talking about or just tell me that it absolutely can't be done, so what's the story? Most likely will end up closing at least 2 of the cards after their promotional balance transfer offers are paid in full. What would you guys recommend? I don't find myself directing much spend to any of my Citi cards to be honest, need to stay around no-annual fee land with them.

From what I've read on here it can be done but Citi requires a hard pull, unless they've recently changed their policy.

Maybe someone will chime in with a number you can call to make it happen.

I tried a few times and they would not combine DP and Preferred and not even two Double Cash. They would not move over any limit to the double cash I wanted to keep even while they gave me an auto cli on my Preferred and a HP cli in infest month for the New Double Cash.

*****UPDATE*****

Logged in a few inutes ago; $20,000 on my AA, having moved $5,600 from my HHonors Card. So, it is possible, all you have to do is ask to speak with an Account Manager! Just sucks that I had to leave $4,000 on my HHonors, when I really wanted to consolidate all of it since I never use it (have AmEx Surpass w/no annual fee for me).

Wow, that's crazy that they want a HP to move limits around. Their exposure doesn't change any,

and you're not seeking additional credit.
