Cabelas Silver / Black status questions

Details on web are sketchy.

I'm very close to the spend requirement for bumping up to silver status. It says $10K in a calendar year. Doesn't specify, does anyone know if that's January 1 to December 31 or based on account anniversary?

Also, it says silver and black status are subject to credit history in addition to the spend requirements. Does that mean it has a higher score qualification threshold as well? Or is that a generic thing that you can't be in bad shape and get the upgrade?

As I'm sure some of you have achieved these upgrades, any help/details would be appreciated.

Answered my own question (partially) through customer service, who confirmed it is legit calendar year (1/1 - 12/31). Went through my statements, matched my numbers to theirs, counting this month's spend I'm just $150 from meeting the threshold.

I didn't ask customer service about any additional requirements (the "subject to credit history" language). We'll see what happens next statement later this month.

When my husband charged $10k to his card about 2 weeks later the new card arrived. that was it.

I hit the threshold this morning. I'll be happy to get an extra 1% back on Cabelas merch, more on their multiplier specials. I'll be even happier if they up my limit, but I'm not asking until March. All part of my master plan.

Why do you have the cabela's card? There are a ton of cards out there that offer 5% CB at places that you can buy cabela's gift cards... and a ton of the time you can find cabela's gift cards 10% or more off online... So I just wondered why? Am I missing something?

Cabela's has deferred financing all year long on smallish purchases. I agree that if you only need to buy one thing there you should do those outside movies, gc, shopping portals and so on.

gotcha, thats what the blispay is for! I have heard they you guys get more cabelas bucks offers in the mail tho... in about 5-7 years I plan on getting it but there are just too many cards that are better right now that I still don't have.

From a card holder the customer service for the card is pathetic. The variant levels and spending is a con. In the 6 months I had the card in 2016 I spent $12000, I was not sent a silver card and was told tonight that I had to respend $10000 in 2017 to qualify again because I did not call to request the upgrade. What a joke. I never carried a balance, over the limit or late. Paid in full each month. So, no more using their card. Back to Discover.

Doesn't "calendar year" ALWAYS mean that, by definition? They would use "anniversary year" or "twelve consectuve months" if they meant something else.

While that's true in general, and in my expectations, Cabela's so called "bank" tends to do so much in a half-assed way as compared to traditional banks that I really felt the need to reassure myself that their interpretation of basic language matched mine.

As an update, shortly after my December statement, my account started showing that I am now "Silver." I did not have to ask for an upgrade. I haven't received an updated card, although that's less important to me. The account showing silver gives me the expectation that I will now receive the silver benefits.
