Applied for the the Black Luxuary Card and didnt get instant approval

I receive an offer from Barclay on their Luxury Black Card so I went and applied since I been gardening for 6+ months and my TU score is 755 with only 2 inquiries. I was hoping for an instant approval but I didn't. I think it may be due to a balance transfer that I requested.

How is Barclay's to deal with if I have to call an agent recon it?

I have heard, at least in the past, that Barclay's can be good for recons on new accounts. I don't think with your scores that you will have any issues. Did you check out Chase Saphire Reserve or Citi ThankYou Prestige before applying for this card? Those cards seem to be a better buy for the annual fee charged.

I am 0 for 2 on Barclaycard recons, but both of my denials stemmed from too many new accounts in the previous 6 months. Both times I had 3 new accounts and was shot down both times.

My recon was not successful but they were very easy to deal with and the guy specifcally told me it was "new accounts" that caused the decline. He said they like to see time away from new accounts and suggested I wait 6 months. I did and got approved for the Apple Rewards.

I am always afraid to add balance transfer information on an applicaiton just because I feel like it would somehow cause an issue. I never do it.

**UPDATE**

Received a call today from Barclay's today, the lady wanted to know my annual income, what I did for a living, how long I have been doing this work, etc. plus how I used my credit, if for business or personal and if I PIF each month and they wanted to verify some information on my credit report. I answered all their questions and BAM - approved with a 20K starting limit.more than enough to cover the BT.

I have a feeling it was my balance transfer that triggered this manual review, but all is good.

My credit scores are TU: 751 EX: 734 EQ: 738

I had the Black Card when it was the "fancy" carbon fiber card. Simply not worth it for the premium $45 above the more popular CSR, Prestige, and Amex Plat. Barclays charges you more for less. Imagine that. I still have the card for sentimental value, but that's the only use I'll get out of it from now on. lol

If you keep it, you may enjoy the quarterly gifts. I hope they have gotten better since then.

I switched from the prestige to the black luxury since they are stripping the prestige of nearly all the perks I used it for. It is a vanity card, but also the way I spend and where I spend the luxury card actually fit pretty well. But I agree if I had my chocie of only one 500 a year annual fee card it would no question beb the Chase Reserve.
