I was approved just about a year ago for a Freedom with the only thing on my CR being a Chase auto loan that was paid off nine years previously. A relationship with Chase does seem to help quite a bit.

Does the VS really matter to you? Are you actually going to use the benefits of it versus a standard?

I'm planning to app for the Chase FU soon.

I see some folks' signatures showing a VS version of the card. Is it still possible to get that in-branch or something? (I plan to app in-branch anyway.)

Is it even a good idea to app for either one? I'm planning to app after my 6-month old Disco unsecures. As of January my Ex FICO 8 was 719 and TU FICO 8 was 750.

Thanks all!

Generally if the credit line is over $5k then it would be a VS.

From the information that I have gathered, Chase requires "at least 1 year of history"

When I applied a while back, I was denied due to not enough credit history and the CSR told me they required "at least 9 months of credit history"

A good way to bypass this, is if you have an account with Chase. You could also ask for a preappoval check in the branch or try the online site.

I have also read of some getting approved with minimal credit history, but maybe they did have an account with Chase.

I wish I could get prequals but I've yet to turn 21. I did try to get an indication from a banker in-branch recently but they were unhelpful. ANother bank they did tell me to wait for the 9 month mark.

I opened a checking account in july 2016 and was approved for FU while opening checking account. Sl was 4k auto cli to 5k in oct 2016. Called last month to inquire about FU siggy and was sent new card a week later. I didn't have to wait a year so not sure if that applies to all. Good luck hope my info helps. I actually had a post about it last month.

Chase FU 5k-Chase F 3k-Discover IT 3250- BofA cash rewards 2k-Macys store card 3k.

No need for anymore cards. Garden and see where that takes me.

My SL is only $800, it was also my first card. Now once I get my utilization under control in the next couple months I will be asking for an increase and we'll see where that goes.
