It's a small amount
You legitimately owe it
Why not just PAY, what you OWE?

It's not a King's randsom, you bounced the check but now you WANT a Guarantee?
From them or it's NOT worth anything to pay your responsibility UNLESS they give YOU "more" Credit products, at your leisure?

Wow!
The nerve of today's borrower is really kind of funny.

But to the issue..

Navy's been known to forgive and forget if there isn't a loss, so that's been their MO

Either way you shouldn't HATE yourself, if the only thing you accomplish for "yourself" would be to PAY WHAT YOU OWE....It might even feel good to pay just because you freaking morally owe a debt you created.

Best of luck

Hello everyone,

Was hoping some could shed some light how NFCU looks at members who previously had an overdrawn/charge off account. Back in 2011 I overdrew my checking account and never paid it. Well I am in a position where I would like to do so in order to restablish eligiblity again. Its a small amount of $400+. I've been told I would qualify for their products again once paid, but I only want to do so to obtain their credit products. Does anyone know if having a prior overdrawn account that was later paid in full be an automatic disqualifer or a denial reason I would expierene going forward with them? This account never appeard anywhere (Chexsystems, Telecheck, CRAs, etc) so I would hate to pay it and not accomplish my goals with them.

Thanks in advance!

I know people who had a charged off account with Navy Fed. They paid the balance and then were able to open up another account and were approved for some credit.

While it might not show on a CRA (it won't show in Chex, they don't use them, plus it's over 5 years old anyway)
But, I'm sure it's in their internal system somewhere...

Agreed^ but I had a friend who overdrew 3 checking accounts for $500 each.. after 6 years it didn't show up on any CR or Chex but they wouldn't allow him to open anything.. he paid and got a card a few months after

NFCU is the proverbial "elephant who never forgets" - until you pay them...then they slowly begin to forget over time. Your chances of getting any credit with an outstanding loss to the CU are as you correctly surmise at 0%. Paying moves you from the 'not possible' to the 'possible' column, but they're still going to look at your overall profile when making a credit decision...including the fact it took you several years to pay them $400

Best of luck!

Ppl should start getting used to institutions having Elephant like memories, because of this thing called COMPUTERS!!!!

It doesn't take much effort to check one's own records to see who has WRONG them or owes them duh?

AmEx, Discover lots of places keep excellent records...So be careful of the bridges you burn, you may need or want to travel across it again.
