Anyone have the LUXURY CARD? (BLACK CARD)

I've wanted this card for a while now but the annual fee really kills it for me. Anyone really get back their AF with the benefits it offers? I really just want it because I'm a carbon fiber junkie and mixed with stainless I'm sure it feels killer. I think I'd get approved for it at 730-760 scores across the board and $125k annual income.

I understand why you want it and I've thought the same about the gold card...they're cool, but they are both junk. You can get way better cards for the money.

If all you want to do is feel the card from time to time and can justify $495 a year for tactile pleasure then by all means get it. It's your money - you can do with it what you want. I get much better travel benefits with the Amex Plat card. I would never even consider the Black Card.

I build a lot of fast/light boats. Bring a few of your cards by my shop and i'll CF them up for you. A Carbon/Kevlar weave maybe?

The Black and Gold luxury cards from Barclay's are definitely not worth it based on their rewards and perks. The only situation I've heard of where they make sense is active duty military, where Barclay's waives the AF. I'm not in the military so I don't know if this is true or not, but with $0 AF I think they'd be OK to have (still wouldn't get any use in my wallet compared with other cards).

And even the sun has set on that. We no longer get the fee waived, for those of us who didn't get the card prior to I believe the end of last year of the beginning of this year. I was going to re-apply but saw they stopped that.

100% an ego card and the benefits are nowhere near as good as Plat or CSR, but the black card design is rather nice OP. The gold is the most obnoxious thing I have ever seen, oy.

I will use my Freedom card until the day I die, or at least until it is discontinued, even if I don't get "oohs" and "aaahs" at the register...even if I become a millionaire. IMO, use the best card for the job. If I wanted ostentation, then I would get a fancy piece of clothing, not a credit card.

If I'm going satisfy my ego with a $500 AF, my ego will have to do with Amex platinum or CSR.

It's garbage. I have a friend that has one and I give him constant flak for it. At $125k you're not making crazy money (no offense, just being down to earth) to make that kind of card worth it; so it's an ego play that you have to think- is it worth it and do I have the money to back it up? If anything if you're looking for a "killer" feeling card, go with the Ritz Carlton Rewards. It's the heaviest of all the CCs out there I believe. At least with that one, you can justify the $450 AF.
