Yes, close em. Don't let your credit score cost you money as a rule but in this case they will continue to stay on your report for at least 10 years.

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting. I am currently on a credit rebuilding journey. Started with a 525 credit score. I got Merrick bank and One United bank secured credit cards in October 2015 and uses them to raise my score enough to secure US Bank, Capital One, American Express and Discover credit cards. Though the Merrick and One United cards were useful and helpful when I started, they have become an irritation. They are the only cards with annual fees and I don't use them at all, so I am essentially just giving them money for nothing. I would love to close these cards, but don't want that to affect my average age of credit. Is it safe for me to close these two accounts? Thanks in advance for your help.
