Your standing in line at best buy, buying your hello kitty mp3 player... and as your about to swipe your super sexy new visa rewards card... you notice some creepy guy behind you taking a picture of your credit card with his cell phone!

What would YOU do??

i love to be mean to rude people. I would ask "what do you think you're doing creep?!?!?" very loudly so everyone can stare at him and give him the disgust look.

Then I would cancel my card ASAP, he may have the credit card number on his camera now.

I would have asked the teller to call security/police and I would file a police report against said creep. Then I'd report my CC as stolen.

In all seriousness, I'd call the CC company and tell them what happened. I'm guessing they'd advise you to report the card lost/stolen.

Would I confront the freaky photographer? It would depend on my mood, I guess. I can picture myself asking something like, "What did you do that for", rather than accuse right off the bat. Or make some joke to the cashier about how you accidentally pulled out a closed CC and then grab for another one. Who knows.

well i'd have to "COMPROMISE" them, meaning i'd have to go off on someone and break them off some..hahhahahahahahhahha--that is as long as my 3 month old and 8 yr old arent around.

Unfortunately this is troublesome.

This person may have taken a picture of your card and use it for fraudulent purposes.

I would definitely call your CC and report this situation.

Request to receive a new account number and have the other account close.

Even if you are paranoid, this will give you peace of mind and will avoid time and paperwork later.

Actually the point of this thread is that people actually do this, take a picture of your card and use it online. So assume that this guy IS taking a pic to get your account number, not just because your new visa is so sexy!

And when your checking out anywhere, make sure someone doesnt have there cell out behind ya!

Call CCC immediately and ask for a new account number. Don't waste any time.

I was shoulder surfed at Newark Airport about 15 years ago using an ATT Calling Card. When I returned from my trip 3 days later I had a message on my answering machine to call ATT. When I got my bill there was a call made to someplace in Brooklyn 3 minutes after I made my call, and after that there was non-stop use of the card for the next 48 hours from every country in Central and South America until ATT figured there was a problem and shut it down. About $700 worth of calls. They didn't seem bothered by it and I was not responsible for it, but once a number is in play it is used rapidly. I would hope the security systems are more robust now than they were 15 years ago.

I would definitely have asked why he took a pic of my CC, and made sure others heard what I was asking as well. Then, I'd probably cancel the card.

I actually was checking out someone's card yesterday in Home Depot, while he was checking out in front of me. I wanted to see what CC he was using, because: a. it was a black card, and b. it had an airline's name on it. I figured he was grabbing miles with his purchases. See what these credit forums have done to me? I'm starting to exhibit potential criminal behavior.

I'd be so startled that I'd accidentally elbow him in the eye. When he dropped the phone to grab his eye, I'd be very apologetic, coming to his aid and accidentally stomping on his phone several times for good measure, breaking it into little tiny bits. Then, mortified at my clumsiness, I'd give him my best motherly look (You know, the serene smile below the menacing evil eye that you give your kids when they're on the verge of cutting up in public? Don't act like you don't know what look I'm talking about!), "Oh, darn! Butterfingers for Sticky Fingers. That's okay, we can use my phone to call the police."

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! If he is wearing flip flops, go ahead and assault his toes too! lol!!!!!!

Seriously, I would probably look for the store security, or ask the clerk quietly to call security. Then let security deal with the guy. I am slightly hesitant to be confrontational as I am petite, only 5 ft tall, and would not like to get my toes stepped on, or my head elbowed by some 6 ft, 200 lb sleaze ball.

Definitely would then call and report card stolen. The sleaze could have sent the pic of cc in a text message to his cohort and your card could be used somewhere before you even get out of the store!
