Chase AARP Card Rewards Changes

Hi all,

Got this SM from Chase.

"We appreciate your business and want to tell you about changes coming to your AARP® Credit Card from Chase rewards program.

The additional point you earn on travel booked through Chase ends March 12, 2017
One of the rewards benefits we've been offering is one additional point for each $1 spent when you use your card to book travel through the Chase Travel Center.

We'll be removing that rewards benefit, and you have until March 12, 2017, to make the most of it.
You will still earn points on purchases made using your card as described in your AARP® Credit Card from Chase Rewards Program Agreement.
We may offer you other ways to earn bonus points through the rewards program.

Your updated Rewards Program Agreement includes:

Details on how we'll tell you about changes
What points are worth
When your use of rewards may be suspended and how you can lose your points
Responsibilities related to the rewards you obtain
The law applicable to the agreement

The latest Rewards Program Agreement takes the place of any earlier versions, including those called "Rewards Program Rules and Regulations."

Doesnt affect me as I dont travel anymore but if you truly want to keep cardmembers, quit nerfing cards. I would have canceled it had it been change to 3% categories.

This sucks! Hopefully they can add some more value to the cards. Now that I'm getting the Costco visa this card doesn't make much sense to me anymore.

I would assume this particular benefit was rarely used so there wasn't much point in keeping it around. People don't want to take the time to call and book travel via phone

Actually with this being an AARP card and the target audience being older a lot of their target market probably used this feature. I know my grandmother always books over the phone via a travel agent.

Don't get me wrong, I have this card and I've never used the feature but some may.

I saw some older threads and webpages stating this card could be applied for by anybody (even if they are not AARP members), but when I went to fill out the application it asked for my AARP member number. Can I proceed with this blank and still have a shot at approval? I just want to verify that it hasn't changed recently to require applicants to be current AARP members, as the threads/webpages I've read about anybody being able to app for it are fairly dated. If I can get this, I'd probably look into PCing my BCP to BCE.

You don't have to be an AARP member.

Yes, just leave it blank... that what I did.

It's not a bad card, since it is no AF and 3% dining
