So I keep hearing that Disco's CS is top notch. I called them today to get my APR and to verify my address and email (just because) and wow now thats what I call customer service. I was only on hold for a couple minutes and the CSR was clear, consice, and very polite. She had quite a sense of humor too ("Wow you're that young and you had THESE credit scores? My son is twice your age etc. etc.). Not to mention I love the fact that all their CS is US based. I can't stand when I'm on the phone and the CSR is extremely hard to understand. Just because it's very frustrating and can prolong CS calls beyond belief.

They're pretty cut and dry on the chat but, I suppose you'll find that out when you register online when you get your secret package!

Their CS is top notch, their rewards are great, and when they like you, they let your CL reflect that !

*some* chase cards are also pretty good at this, if you use your registered number to dial the correct number (the ones printed on card), a real person picks up the phone in seconds and they are in general polite, ready to help, competent and they already know who you are and your account info from the incoming number.

But discover is providing a very good service without AF, which is amazing.

Don't get me started with Citi though

Yeah she was really enthusiastic. She also reminded me that every 6 mo or so they do review of accts or so, to see if I qualify for any special promos, a lower APR, etc. etc.

They review but, you have to ask them about it every 6 months This is something you learn through the process of having the card. Just pop open chat and ask if there are any current offers on your account.

I don't have a citi card (will be getting Costco this month) are they really that bad?. My DW has two but she's never called CS

I havent had direct experience with them but my mom and a couple of my friends had some citi cards and nothing but headaches had come from that. 1 late payment (a couple days late - it was a matter of payroll processing) and they came down cut throat.

I have 10 Citi accounts both retail and legacy and have never had anything but positive experiences.

I mean it is all subjective. Some people have terrible experiences. Some people have great experiences.

My terrible experiences:

I have once lost my wallet with a few cards in it, while chase and discover CSRs were readily approachable and sent my replacement cards out in a few min. I stayed on hold for more than an hour to get someone at Citi to talk to me. They did close old account and issued a new account number when I finally reached them but just imaging having just confirmed that your wallet is really lost and having quite a few calls to make to take care of various things and being put on hold for an hour.

Another time, someone replicated my card or something and charged $5 on it in another state. Citi detected this abnormity and sent me an email to call their department dealing with this kind of things. While I understand that such department might need to ask more questions due to their very nature, that call was more like an interrogation. What I still don't understand till this day is that the lady on the phone who had already verified my identity (after 10s of questions) and the next minute she seemed to have forgotten all about that and needed to ask yet a few more questions such as where have I been to the last 3 days, weeks, months, etc. What's more, the whole thing just repeats itself again and again and she will NOT let me talk to a supervisor or anyone else, the flow of that call was sort of like (loop start -> ask customer 20 identity verifiying questions -> talk to customer normally for 1 min -> ask customer another 5 identity verifiying questions -> jump back to loop start). I gave up after maybe two hours or so and just paid them or whoever in the other state $5 and have since largely stopped using my citi cards (except for virtual account number). Think back on it, I should have chosen to pay $5 sooner

That said, I do appreciate that citi has had freedom card which funded most of my meals for years and has also implemented useful features such as virtual account number and price re-winds despite having a likely very under manned IT department, unlike chase's fondness of changing their website UI without adding any real features. But the CSR experiences have helped me making up my mind to stay away from citi, for as much as I possibly can.

They say 90 days on the first one but, if you're in the right profile you'll probably see something auto CLI between 60-90 days and as soon as you see that you can hit the CLI button and collect the rest of the CLI. After this though I target every other month for the maximum boost.

Likewise. Have two Citi accounts and have done everything under the sun with those cards and have always been satisfied.

I'm sure I will have the same opinion. I got approved on Monday. I should have it today or tomorrow I'm guessing (or Saturday)
