Amex Platinum chances?

Looking at applying for the Amex platinum card but not sure how good my chances are. Please let me know what you think!

Experian score: 754
Approx income: 120k
Average length of accounts: 18 months
Current cards: Wells Fargo platinum-1k limit
: chase sapphire card holder on my wife's account- 13k
Credit utilization- 10%

I moved here from the U.K. Recently which is why my accounts are still young and I don't have much going on. Do you think I can still be approved for the Amex card, me and my wife travel a lot and think it would be beneficial.

Personally, I think your chances are high for it! You got a pretty good portfolio and a good score and decent AA. Pull the trigger! Great thing to know to is that you can apply for two Amex cards back to back applications and Amex will use the same HP! Just in case you were eyeballing another one of their cards! Also, the Platinum card is about to get all those upgrades! So it's a perfect time to apply! GO FOR IT!!!

I removed your duplicate post in the CC applications forum. Please do not make the same post twice in separate forums as this is confusing to other posters trying to help you and is against forum guidelines.

Good luck if you choose to apt for the Platinum card. If you decide to apply make sure you before 3/30 as that is when the higher annual fee of $550 goes into effect.

Did you by chance have an Amex in the UK? If so, you can use the Global Transfer process to get a US version.

Also, the belief here is that all the Amex charge cards have the same underwriting standards, i.e. green is no easier than the plat, just cheaper. So your scores look good, people get charge cards with much weaker profiles

I believe you may have a better chance if you have the AMEX GOLD first. I had a friend that has GOLD as well and he told me he was offered the AMEX Platinum because of the average spending limit. hope you get it.

You definitely dont need to start with a gold first. You can apply to any charge card, its not neccessrily by the steps from green gold to plat, etc. The consensus is the charge cards arent that hard to get, a lot of people with lower scores and profile have gotten charge cards approved more easily than other revolver cards in general.

I agree with TheGeekyCreditGuy. They have the same lending requirements it's just the annual fee that makes them differ.

I'm pretty sure you won't have a problem. I think all the charge cards have pretty much the same underwriting standards even on the business side of Amex. The only one I have found harder to get is the Plum card. All the others were really easy. The only one I have yet to get is the platinum.

Your score's around 100 points higher than mine was when I got mine.

Hi everyone,

Just applied and got ACCEPTED for the amex Platinum! was pretty nervous but all well and good! Someone on here suggested picking up 2 cards on the same day as it only counts as one hard pull? Like the look of the Amex everyday credit card. Should i pull the trigger on this also?

I would. The ED card earns you 2x at grocery stores, so if your spend is good there it might make sense.

congrats. its good that you apply now so you only pay $450 on the AF before it gets bumped up to $550. Also, remember to request the metal card begining on the 30th of this month!
