Citi DoubleCash APR Reductions x4 Update 3/1

Get your APR reductions in Everyone.

I received 3 Apr reductions over the last week.

I started at 21.49%

2/23/17 to 19.49%

2/24/17 to 17.49%

2/28/17 to 15.49%

3/1/17 to 14.74%

Wonder how low I can go?

I requested them through chat.

I just asked if there are any apr reductions offers on my account.

Some of the chat people state that you can only request once every 6 months which I proved is not true.

The weird thing is the first time they offered 2 apr reductions which I took the lowest.

The third time they offered three which I took the lowest. They offered (1)16.49, (2)15.79 and (3)15.49, I said I will take the lowest offer number 3.

I logged out and back in and can see it was lowered to 15.49 instantly.

Congrats Jam! So all you do is chat the request, obvioudly yes i know you answered, but more importantly how long do you need to have the account to reduce the apr? Thanks

I got mine dropped 5 days in a row down 9%. Read somebody got theirs dropped 6 days in a row.

Edit: I've had my card 2 months. I didn't get a 0% purchase APR promotion.

Yes, I just opened the chat window on the side.

The card needs to be out of the promotional period.

I am hoping I can get it down to around 13% or lower.

I did it on my wife's card via chat every 48 hours and it went from 25.24% down to 14.24% two percent at a time every two days. That 6th time it only went down by 1%, so we stopped there. Up to 14.49% now with prime rate change in December but much better than it was!

Any way to find out if you are out of the 0% window. Im coming up on a , hory crap, tomorrow i got a year with my DC, LOL, just realized this as i write this lowering apr is a worthy goal now that im in the garden

Congrats! Did it go down 2% the last time or just 1%? 13.99% is the current lowest published for that card, so there's a chance! I know that some here have been able to get to single digits, but not sure if those were even somewhat recent.

I forgot to mention... one of those times I did the 2% reduction, I got something like:

I have a great news for you with today three offers.

1.) I can reduce your account have APR up to prime rate + 11.99 = 15.74% variable.

2.) I can reduce your account have APR up to prime rate + 11.49 = 15.24% variable.

3.) I can reduce your account have APR up to prime rate + 10.99 = 14.74% variable.

Which would you like?

I thought that one was a bit odd, like someone would purposely choose a higher APR?

I just went from 16.49 to 14.74 via online chat. My card was only opened since mid January 2017.

Starting to think 14.74 might be the lowest they are going to let us go for right now but I may try again tomorrow or in a few days.

I too thought it was weird why would someone choose a higher APR.

14.74% isn't the absolute lowest that they can go. Here's a screenshot of mine and for anyone wondering I got all the reductions via chat. The card started out with the highest APR. I think 3.99% is the lowest cos it was my APR at some point but a combination of the prime rate hike and other unexplained factors has my card at what it is now.

I have that stupid promo offer going at 6.99% until March 6, 2017. Will attempt to lower my abysmal 23.99% APR to 15%! Thanks for this thread.

Quick update: Tried initiating a chat message with the Citi folks to see whether I qualify for a lower APR %. After multiple attempts, my APR remained at an abysmal 23.99%. Good luck for those who can lower it!

I tried again since wife's account updated with a 780 (08 Bankcard) on Citi yesterday. Stuck at 14.74% for now. Not really comlaining, though. Sure it's 0.50% higher than it was a few months ago, but it would be 25.74% now. So if someone is afraid of rejection, stopping the first time they offer you less than 2% seems to make sense.

Also, I am not sure if I mentioned before but she a promo going on for 5.9% on new purchases when we did the 25.24 - 14.24 reduction.

Geeze I haven't posted on this site in a while. I am glad that I read it. I lowered my Discover by 3% today. I have the citi chat window open now. I hope I get a reduction.
