I've been following along w Ozix's thread, but is AA w chase common at all in your experiences for consildating?

Follow ups, Can a southwest card go under 5k and retain visa sig(not that it matters since I wont really use it...and in that same vein...can/should i move a balance from a card that isn't used much without them realizing that and trying to close it on me? Does a CFU only have to break 5k to become a visa sig?

Any time you make changes to your accounts can result in AA if your reports aren't on point. Never be complacent.

That being said, Lending isn't as dumb as they look. They can tell the difference between a balance being carried and a balance that reports and gets paid off monthly.

Yeah i actually just clarified some right before your post, I dont think i've ever had any internet with chase since i've been with them(only about 2 years). I really just wanna shift some balance to my CFU for the instances when it reports, it doesnt look so strange(and to get signature protection, not just a vanity perk to me, has actual use ).

I've personally never had any issue with consolidating lines and Chase.

I had a Ritz Carlton with an 11k limit, and was approved for the CSR at 10k. I decided to close my Ritz and move the credit line it over to the CSR. Called in, spent maybe 10 mins on the phone with a rep who came back saying they couldnt move the full 11k over, but could move over 10. I said that was fine, and it was done.

Later on, (after I had hit the bonus for CSR), I called in to downgrade to the CSP again. No issues there either.

Same thing that happened to Ozix happened to my sis too. My sis was able to get her limits restored with Chase after she gardened for about a year and reduced her balances from 37k to about 2k.

In theory, once the card is below 5k, they could downgrade it to Visa Plat when the card expires/renews but in practice, not sure this really happens. As you said, not really a big deal since Visa Sig benefits are barely used.

AA can happen any time of course; when shuffling limits you are basically inviting an account review. So, be prepared, but do not be paranoid. No use in worrying about it because you will never know what's going to happen unless you try. If AA does occur you can deal with it at that point. Nobody can predict it for you.

Yeah the reported balances are low over the last 12. Scores are floating around 690-720. only inq's i've got are from my CFU/CSR/auto refi in the last 12. i think i've got at most 3 on any of them. Just wasn't sure if it was worth it to poke the bear but I think I'm fine. I'd also read something about someone saying Chase doesn't like to give out more than 1/3rd of your income, but i'm actually a little over half lol.

edit: i also meant that I DO use the visa sig benefits time to time. Just won't ever on the SW mainly because it would onyl ever be used for my 'tax costs' when i book my flights using points to keep it active

The outcome will be decided there, rather than from the consolidation request itself.

btw. What additional benefit does signature give you though? Since your CSP already is signature.

I'm not going to put a...Say...$700 phone purchase on my CSR, when I can put it on my CFU and get that (minimal I know) extra 3.50 (5.85 In actual redemption) in rewards. It's just more piece of mind with purchases. I've used a return benefit on my old CSP that I wouldn't be able to do if it was a regular visa. I'd prefer lateral protection utility across my trifecta
