I love Chase! Check out all of their card offers... usually if you qualify for one, there are others that might suit you better. They do convert cards also. They do not give automatic CLIs, you have to ask... and they are accomodating.

I've got 3 cards with them, no other affiliations. My FICOs are low 700's right now and my lowest BT offers (which sometimes I take as a bank check if the rate is good and I have anything to pay off) are:

0% APR till 4/1/08 billing cycle

4.99 APR fixed till PIF

6.99 APR fixed till pif with no fee

The offers change every month or so and are a bit individualized... with a good history, if you pay a big balance off or are not using the particular card much, they will throw in a particularly good rate out of the blue. The BT rates are the same rates and conditions as the promo checks they send with the bill... at least with my 3 cards.

I've just received 3 offers in 4 weeks for a Chase Visa with a 0% intro. rate for up to 15 months (on balances & transfers), a fixed 8.99% APR and no annual fee. I currently only have 1 credit card (Citibank visa) which I've had for 5 years and in good standing (current rate 12.99%). I'm thinking about taking a chance & applying for my 2nd card & take advantage of the 0% intro rate & transferring my $2700 balance. After reading a few of the threads, I've realized that people have this credit card/credit history thing down to a science. I'm curious to hear the opinions & advice. Should I take the leap? Is chase a good card to have?. Thanks.

It seems like a good offer and a good card - for some reason I keep getting the same offer. I think they are soft pulling my equifax.

To determine if this is the best card for you I'm unsure? What are your scores and what type of rewards (if any) are you interested in? I'll add 8.99% fixed is a great rate - but other than that the perks and offers seems limited.

I'm an Amex fan myself and would recommend any of the blue cards-

Great scores -

The Amex Blue has no annual fee, a 12.24 % Varibale APR (not as good at the 8.99%), and a great 0% balance transfer for the first 15 months. There are tons of other great benefits on the card re: warranty coverage, 90 day theft/damage protection (which I've used), and other things.

Good luck in deciding and welcome to the forums!

Message Edited by pjriverap on 10-13-2007 09:47 PM

I would also look at Chase Freedom reward card. It now offers 3% cash back where you spend the most (and it has 15 different categories to earn these rewards). It does have limits so you would need to make sure you spend in that range...I know some of the rewards cards are unlimited, but I don't spend that much. It also gives you 50 free dollars if you save your rewards to $200. I'm a rewards card person and that put them 1 step in front of citibank. Also since I was a good customer, they gave me 9.99 fixed (i don't know about new customers though).

It won't help with the balance transfer option though.

Message Edited by ficoachiever on 10-14-2007 08:59 AM

Chase also usually has very good balance transfer/lifetime of the loan offers. So even after the 15 month, 0% intro rate expires, you'd probably be receiving some very good promotional rate offers on the Chase credit card account. I bought a car in November of 2005 with a Chase 2.99% fixed for the lifetime of the balance, promotional check. I never thought that I would ever purchase an automobile with a credit card. However, at that time, the lowest APRs for 3 year auto loans were 5% and higher. I saved several hundred dollars buying a car with the 2.99% fixed check offered on my Chase credit card account.

@Anonymous wrote:

Whoa! That's unheard of. At least by me. Am I understanding it correctly? Does this mean that you pretty much purchased a car with a 2.99% interest 'loan'? You also said that it was a promotional type of check, so that also must've made the rate so low. Can you maybe elaborate on what kind of relationship you have with Chase? Like how many accounts (CC, checking, savings, anything) you have with Chase, what your CL is/are, age of account(s), etc. And can you also let us know how that entire deal came to be. Like did you ask for it? Did they just offer this to you? What other kinds of offers have you seen from them in the past? Thanks. I think many people would learn a lot from this experience.
