Strange Amex PC from BCE. Anyone else have this?

I've had the BCE for almost 3 months now and was chatting with Amex CSR about offers and product changes.

She said that I could take advantage of the BLUE CASH REBATE card and get better bonuses on my card. She said that the BLUE CASH REBATE card was not available to the open market.

My current rewards = 3% groceries, 2% dept. stores & gas, 1% other

New rewards = 5% on all groceries

Basically I would get my groceries bumped up to 5%. I tried looking this up and couldnt find anything. Can anyone else ask their Amex CSR if this is available to them? Anyone heard about this offer?

Never heard of it-but is it just groceries? No other categories? Or is the 5% rotating?
Seems the BCP would be better if you spend enough. 6% on groceries plus you get 3% on gas and I think either food or department stores.

Could this be the OBC? 5% off groceries, gas and drugstores, up to $50K spend a year, but after a threshold spend of $6.5K?

I've never heard of it but did a quick internet search. It lead me to a fatwallet thread. (thread is old) but does discuss the structure of the card as it was then. Looks like some decent historical information on the card. https://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/100210

Probably OBC. I don't have a ton of confidence in the CSRs for their non-premium cards.

Happy with Platinum, though.

On Flyertalk and elsewhere, there have been reports that people who still had the Cash Rebates card are being automatically converted to the BCE. So offering it is indeed strange. From the fatwallet link, it looks like the major difference between OBC and this is that Cash Rebates has/had 1.5% on non-everyday spend, vs 1.0% for OBC. But neither card should be used for that anyway....

That thought did cross my mind, but at the same time I was (and am) hoping this is indeed something different.

I spoke on the phone with a CSR and they're going to look into the chat I had and see what that CSR was talking about. They don't know of any cards/offers that give just 5% at supermarkets with no AF.

Very strange. They should get back to me in a few days, I'll keep everyone posted.

Managment got back to me and told me that the CSR didn't know what they were talking about, and apologized. No luck.
