Any way to change name on a credit card?

When I applied for my Chase Freedom in branch, my banker put in both my first and middle name in the name section of the application, and due to the way Chase handles names internally, I got a credit card with a choppped off name (FirstName ChoppedMiddleName LastName). And this is what has been reporting in credit bureaus recently, even though my other card is more straightforward (FirstName MiddleInitial LastName, this also shows up in my report), In order to add it to my Chase account, my name on that had to changed as well (Apparently they did this so that the name doesn't overlap the Visa logo on cards). Is it possible to get the name changed on the credit card? Does having these multiple names affect anything? It is irritating to look at.

I would think this would be a major hassle, and not worth it, in my opinion...if it is showing up on your credit report, I can't see it causing a problem.

I don't have Chase-specific data points, but I have successfully requested to have my middle initial deleted before. If your middle name is truncated anyway (meaning it's not correct on the card) this should be easy.

Reach out to Chase via phone or SM and see what they can do... it might be low-hanging fruit.

I recently changed my name on one of my CapOne cards after a customer service rep noticed that it was misspelled. It was likely misspelled for the entire fourteen years that I've had the card.

I have numerous names on my credit reports, including the misspelling. I figure that if I've had accounts reported under those names, it's "accurate" information and not a big deal.

I noticed my name was misspelled on one of my Chase cards when I received it. I called the number on the back of the card, talked to someone for a minute, and they sent me a new one with the correct spelling within 2-3 days. It could not have been easier.

Mispelled My own name on my Lowe's application 3 years ago… i had them send me a new card but it is still reports on my EQ credit report with an extra C in there. Totally extra, my name doesn't even have a C lol.

Update -

I just called the number at the back of the card and asked the CSR about this, and he said it should be possible. He is going to ship out a new card with the name as I prefer it (FullName MiddleInitial LastName). Was actually fairly easy.

I do hope this doesn't screw up my online account, though.

Years ago some crappy credit card company issued me a credit card as FIRST LAST III. As in, The Third. As luck would have it, it became my PRIMARY name on my credit reports. I would get random marketing calls as "Mr. Last the Third?"

Sometimes random mail goes to my parents' houses (haven't lived with them for 30 years, or EVER at those addresses) with The Third on it.

Even having deleted it from my credit reports, it still lingers years later. Maybe a decade now.

Oh, there are so many different names (and even misspellings) on my report.

Fortunately, I am literally the ONLY person in the country (and likely the world) with my name.

How a name appears on your report can sometimes affect your credit report just like an address. If you are applying for something and they go to pull a specific report, if your name doesnt match exactly, you might not get approved right away and have to verify your id. Frustrating it can be so id have it chsnged the way you like it reported, less hassle imho.

OZ, just trying to picture your name lol, at least your name isnt John Smith lol, or John Smith Jr for Uncle B
