Got my Macy's CLI

I opened the Macy's store card a few months ago.. Buy a shirt, then PIF, Limit was 100$ starting out. Requested 500$ and got 100$ increase. So 200$ limit now. Beggers cant be choosers lol

An increase is better than a decrease! So, did you call, or did they give the CLI? I thought I read that Macy's gives automatic increases every three months or so.

I called, they call them "Guidline Credit Limit Increases" I was told every 3 months you are supposed to call in. So thats what I did, the card had been opened three months so I called. The lady said I could call back in another three months, so I take it you have to call?

Congrats on CLI. Dont be discouraged. Macy's is very good and generous with CLI. You can ask for CLI every 3 months and they would consider depending on your spending / payment patterns. I started out with $100 CL around Dec 2007 and now I have CL $3400. They are one of the best companies I have ever dealt with.

Yep, every 3 months for Macys. Mark your calendar to the day. Gradually, the amount of the cli goes up. In a year you'll be close to 1G.

I've experienced something with macy's that I've read about but finally experienced. two weeks ago called for a cli (300 limit one year old) and was declined but when I checked my updated credit report a week later I seen that my credit limit was 800....... just luv me some macy's

I like Macy's.

I have 3 accounts with Macy's:

Store card #1, opened 12/2006, initial CL $100, current CL is $4000

Store card #2, opened 01/2007, initial CL $400, current CL is $4900

Macy's Visa, opened 11/2007, initial CL is $2400, current CL is $10000.

Thank you for posting this. I am on month 2 with Macy's and will call next month. Refresh my memory--is it a soft pull for CLI with Macy's?

My initial was $800. What CLI do they usually give, or does it depend on the individual? I have been charging between $75-$150 a month and PIF.

yes, it is typically a soft... one exception is if you request an increase that approaches or exceeds your internal risk limit, in whcih case they may pull a hard.
