I forgot to mention that Chase will allow you to pay toward pending charges. That'll speed things up a bit.

Also, if you want to report a low or zero statement balance, use your credit card to load up your Amazon gift card. That way, you still get your 5%, and you can make a few purchases at statement time without affecting your credit card balance. I find that $50 to $100 is more than enough on the gift card. A larger purchase can be delayed a couple of days.

I'm betting that if you do the right combination of using the card and keeping your balance in check, you'll get an automatic limit increase somewhere between 3 and 6 months. Mine came at 4 months. A friend thinks her increase came at 3 months, but it might have been 4.

Hey Guys,

Finally got a Chase Amazon Visa! After spending approx 50+ mins on the phone getting interrogated by credit analyst he pushed my applications to reviews and reviews approved me for $500.00.

Exciting, but depressing at the same time. If I use that card, I risk it going over utilization very fast... I called credit analyst again they told me I need to ask Customer Service for a CLI and then they can review me. They said another credit report needs to be pulled. I dont understand why I need to take another HP for a CLI Recon but I will do it if you guys think it's best.

TL;DR - I got approved by Chase Amazon after a denial recon. The limit is $500, I'm trying for a CLI but they want a second report pulled? Should I wait for review auto CLI or push to speak to someone for CLI (Even its just another $500 for 1K limit...)

Your scores are pretty low, so if I were you, I would sit on that $500 card, putting up to $100 or less at a time on it, and pay it off immediately. Keep doing that. Wait six months and try for a CLI (though I'm not familiar with Chase's CLI approval patterns ... you'd have to do more research here to find out what the optimum wait time is).

Right now, I guarantee you'd get a denial for a CLI, especially when you had to recon for the approval in the first place and were given a starter limit of $500.

How are you going to risk overutilization? Make a <$500 purchase, PIF immediately, make another <$500 purchase, PIF immediately. Show consistent usage. Do you buy a lot at Amazon that costs more than $500 on any order?

First off, congratulations on your approval.

Second, as far as your utilization - don't sweat so much. The nice thing about Chase is that, IF you pay the card to zero AT ANY TIME during the statement period, Chase will automotically push an update to the CRA's to show it is paid off. So, if you want to app for another card, and are worried about your Util on that card, pay it off. Wait about 3 days, and it will then update as a 0 balance. Makes life a tlittle bit easier..

COngratulations on getting in with Chase. That was my first card with them in November, after MANY denials. ANd I had a very low limit as well. But, since that approval, I have opened an AARP, and a Disney Visa, with $4500, and $5000 limits.. Its the start of great tihings to come!

Chase is the king of HP's. The time to wait would have been before applying, wait for your scores to go up and then app and get a decent SL. Now, unless you want a HP you are going to wait a good long time. You should go garden, especially if you are having to recon to get approvals.

I think you're fine charging more than $100, but I agree with paying it off immediately. Along with that, I wouldn't let a large percentage of the limit report. But as pointed out above, Chase will report zero if you pay to zero, giving you some margin of error.

Agreed with what everyone else has stated above. What you spend relative to your limit doesn't matter. In fact, the more the better and the greater incentive Chase will have to give you a CLI as it indicates to them that the constraint to you spending more (and them making more off of you) is possibly the limit.

Spend the full $500 limit and then 5 minutes later pay it off. Treat the card just like your debit card. Just make sure you don't allow a large balance to report, but you could spend $500 (and pay it off) 20 times during the month and be just fine.

Thanks for the updates guys.

To answer some above questions

- I spend a **bleep** ton of money on Amazon. I have a family of 4.

- I didn't know the chase reporting factors, I just knew (so I thought..?) I had to put a balance, then pay it off before statement close to "build credit" turns out I still got a lot more reading to do.

- As for the recon statement, this is the first recon in 3 years. PenFed $10,000 + $5000 approved, no recon. Amex, $5000 right off the bat. Discover, $3250, I guess chase just likes people with a cleaner credit history than mine. They were questioning medical debits that are 6.5 years old but still approved the card after waiting.

- I appreicate the responses guys. I'm going to start the garden process and hit the jackpot cards in a few years from now.

THANK YOU!
