Capital one 11years account denied CLI

first card back in college started with $300 or $500 can't remember

never asked for a CLI never had any probs with account, always in order

over the years the CL increased slowly slowly to 3k.

it's been sitting at 3k for over 3-4 years from what i remember...

in 2007 when previous expired, new card was made automaticaly into Cash rewards.

still same 19.99% APR that i began with...

anyway i call backdoor number couple weeks ago to ask for a CLI, explained i've been with them for 11 years, they can do better than 3K. Guess what: denied (reason came in the mail: there's no credit line increase available for this account).

makes me wonder is this one of those maxed out accounts? can never grow with you?

i don't "need" the limit increase but it's just the principal, of how they treat me, compared to my 2 worldperks us bank cards. (i call Worldperks card first time to ask for a CLI, boom 3k on top of the 18k that was available to the card, oh btw boom 7% lowered interests on it)

the US bank cards are only 5 years old and started at 5kish, they auto increased every year...

anyway i'm sure you're sick of my crying by now,

so what do i do?

i've been using the capital one card last 3 months couple small purchases a month and pif, hope to do that 3 more months, then when there's 6 full months of activity recall and ask for increase?

i'd close the account but it's oldest account that i have (11 years), and i don't know if it has an annual fee, i really just haven't payed attention (i should have asked the rep)

any ideas greatly appreciated

sockdrawer if it no fee or put a coke or pack of gum on it..if no fee its not hurting you..just don't show it much love, since it's not being reciprocated

With USbank in my wallet, I would not worry about little o capital one.

if it really bothers you, you can go back to the website apply for one of there signature cards and probably get a decent CL that could then build to 25k I believe is there ceiling, but sounds like your at your max.

sounds like you may've hit a 3k cieling on that card if you are set on having a higher cap1 cl you will most likely have to app for one of their prime-ish cards with a higher ceiling and then combine the two.

Now I know I asked the CSR and she said it would be a soft pull when I was denied a few minutes ago, but was your denial a soft or hard pull?

I thought my score going up 50 points to well over 700 after having my last collection removed should put me at a CL of over the current $2000. Guess nothing is guaranteed in today's economic climate.

i told them i don't want any pulls on my file, so i guess it was just from what their screen indicated.

they did offer me to do a review it'd have to be a hard pull. obviously i declined.

seems like my type of account it's not one that grows with you...

btw i did have a $30,000 Capital One Auto finance loan with them a few years ago paid it early by 2 years.

you'd think that would help with a 3k card limit no? hmmm not with these people ;p

Hi, All!

Well, you've said "Back in collage" So, I'm assuming your current Cap1 account is the one with the $3k limit therefore you're out of luck...

Now! If I were you, I'd consider neither...

Let them do the hardpull in order to upgrade your "limited" Cap1 card.

Apply for another account with them then combine the two cards.

But I honestly don't see the need for you to waste an inquiry to upgrade your current Cap1 account, you have excellent limit on your other CC so, why bother???

that makes sense; i'm not going to bother with it, i'd love to close it but i've read the many threads that's a bad idea 10years down the road.

i could just use it once a month for some gas to just keep the account active...
