biting nails deciding which to apply for freedom or csp, i pre-qual on chase site for both. CreditKarma points me towards freedom more than csp.

experian fico8 658
equifax fico8 677
transunion fico8 646

10k amex as auth user
300 total visa (most recent late was 6mo ago, card opened for 1.5 years)
700 fortiva (opened in april)
1500 overstock/comenity (opened in jan)

all have less than 3% util if not zero.

2 collections, medical bill ($85) from 2012, capital one ($582) from 2014 - ALL PAID

have mortgage and auto loan wells fargo is current but was past due 6 mo ago

Dont want to get denied but ive read that csp isnt too hard to get and i travel and eat out alot so the rewards and 5k CLI would be big help.

would chase rely on my amex CL much since its auth user or focus more on late payments?

First Post! Hello everyone! I've recently been awaken to the world of credit cards and benefits of having them.I'd like to start saving points for travel and I know the CSP is one of the better options for credt cards in regards travel rewards but I'm a bit worried I'm not going to be approved for it and I'll have another hp on my record. Here's a rundown of my situation:

4 hard pulls (2 w/ chase, 1 student loan, 1 apartment)

3 delinquents w/ student loans (2011-2012) - All student loans are current now

Chase Freedom $1000 October last year (Also applied for a SW card later in the same month but was denied)

BoA graduated secured card $500

AAoA is 6.3 years

Credit utilization is 0% this month but I kept it around 30% for the past couple of months.

Fico 8

EQ - 697

TU - 716

EX - 713

I know the CSP has a minimum CL of $5000 and I currently don't have that yet so is there a chance they'd approve me? I'd love some advice on what I should do or if there are other good travel card recomendations. I just picked Chase cause I'm already saving UR with the Freedom but I'm open to other rewards programs.

While Chase generally likes to see experience with higher CL's i.e. $5k plus, before approving a card like CSP, there have been outliers. You have nothing to lose by applying except an inquiry. The only thing that would concern me is your low limits and your previous SW denial. Everything else in your profile looks good though. Best of luck if you decide to proceed, it's a great card and would be a nice companion for your freedom.

Thanks for the advice!

I am big on pre-approvals when available and reliable like chase and cap1. I will only app in a branch with chase but I am in 90210 where there is a chase every 200' The 100K for chase is only around for 2 weeks more but there will be other opps for you in the future.

Did you check online with chase?

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take ~Wayne Gretzky

I've done the Chase online pre-approval but got nothing.. I think it has to do with me not being opted in for prescreened offers. Is the Chase online pre-approved offer different from the in branch one? I live in Chicago and have a Chase branch 5 minutes away. I'll probably head into there later today. Also, since I'm going to have a hp with the csp app should I just go ahead and apply for the freedom unlimited and csr while I'm at it? It wouldn't hurt right?

OP, I tried the Chase Pre-Approval site many times and never got it to work. Then I cold apped for the CSP and got an instant approval so I dont put much stock in it..

However, I would second someone else's advice and walk into a branch and see what they say you have.

Go for it! I was approved for the CSP in December with similar scores. My income is over 100K so that may have added to my applicant file.

Your consumer profile does not appear to have excessive inquiries so I say app!

Is there benefit to the FU over the F? I feel like the 5% rotating categories is a great perk and the categories have been relevant to my purchases. I figured all of my non category purchases will be on the CSP anyway.. I just wanted to apply for the FU for the sign up bonus.
